Simultaneous defragmentation of multiple hard drives

Recommended Posts

Do I understand correctly that even in the latest version of the Smart Defrag application there is no way to run a simultaneous defragmentation of disks located on different physical media? What's the point of waiting for one drive to finish checking when all the others are idle?

Sorry, but I cannot make any sense of your question.

When you say different physical media....do you mean external drives connected to the same pc.

If so, then defragging will be determined/controlled by the cpu which will queue the tasks to be performed, so it is logical that

it will complete one defrag before commencing another.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what exactly you don't understand in my question? The fact that computers can have several hard drives (not logical drives, partitions) that are not combined in RAID? Or that tasks on drives that are independent of each other can also be performed independently? Can I give an example of a defragmentation application in this thread that defrags different drives at the same time, and not guided by a single-tasking, sequential queue that is somehow magically tied to the limitations of the (modern) CPU?
