Recommended Posts

Hi guicaut

As far as I know it works with 64 bit versions

At least it says so on IObit home site.

Hi quicaut

Do you mean if they will make a version that only can defrag 64bit versions??? (the recent versions defrag both 32bit and 64bit versions)

I really doubt that - much smarter to have a program that defrags all the previous versions going back to version Win2000/Xp/Vista/Win7 in both 32bit and 64bit versions. (Much more useful alround I think)

I don't believe it would be necessary. x86-64 Windoze will always be able to execute IA32 binaries (or at least for a very looong time ;-) ). Since my understanding is that every defragmenter under modern NT Windows uses its native defragmentation API, there should be no dire need for a 64-bit program since the I/O work is done by the system API, which is 64-bit anyway under 64-bit windows...

I think the original question is quite specific: "will there be an 64-bit version of Smart defrag?" Iam interesting to specific answer to this question too.

I dont care if product compilation in 32bit or 64bit is necessary on OS or not. I also dont care if 32bit version of SmartDefrag works somehow as 32bit compiled on 64bit OS.

I CARE if SmartDefrag will be compiled in future as 64bit version for supported OS.

So .... can somebody please answer original question? Will be SmartDefrag product in 64bit compiled version available to customers too?

Thanks for info.... ;)

Hi FFirewall

As far as I can tell from this thread the question has already been answered in post #2.

Operating System:Designed for Windows 7, Vista™, XP, 2000, and Windows Server Editions (32bit and 64bit)

Can it be said better?

Cheers
