Bad Image Virus/System32 corrupt

Recommended Posts

This is different to the other problem. I was using Windows OneCure and it kept freezing(probably too many antivirs) I had to closed it and now It looks to have corrupted files as I closed it with ctrl alt del. It comes up with the red ex warning sign saying things such as bad image "is either not designed to run on windows" this is after every program I click on it comes up. Even when I restart my computer I need to click the box to continue. System restore was turned off so that's out of the question. I have logs of Malware Bytes and HiJack this.

Hi

suggestions provided by enoskype are correct, please follow those steps.

You should uninstall Windows OneCare or Norton: as you said you cannot use two antivirus at the same time.

You have a lot of useless startup entries which can slown down your computer.

Both Sun Java JRE and Adobe Reader are out of date, please update them to the latest version: they are vulnerable.

Moreover: you should install SP 1 and SP 2 for Vista.

If you cannot see any Service Pack via windowsupdate, you problem is some incompatible driver.

And an incompatible driver may be the cause of the error you get.

So, please, check to your computer vendor web site if they have new driver for you PC, download them and install

Bloody Toshibas nothing but problems!

I have got rid of onecare and nortons. I believe the crashing of onecare and then ctrl alt del is what caused this. In windows update I don't see any SP 2.

Hi

I got a similar issue with my HP compaq laptop.

problem was caused by a intel graphics driver which had been modified by HP.

I looked for that driver via HP web page and I installed.

Issues vanished and I could install service pack needed.

So please check what Toshiba model you have and look for its proper driver (I noticed you use Intel Grafics Drivers too).

For an antivirus I would suggest you to install Avira AntiVir Free 9.0

In order to be sure you completely uninstall Norton you can use Norton Removal Tool;)

Take a look here

click download> choose category > choose family > choose (your) model > click GO

then you have to refine your search, so chose Vista and Drivers and look for the most recent Drivers for Vista which solve incompatilbilty with Vista Service Pack 1 and/or Vista Service Pack 2.

Once you have found it, install it and reboot.

Now you should be able to update you OS:)
