Windows Search in Start Menu

Recommended Posts

I did a search of this forum but did not find this reported yet (except by me)

Windows XP

If I customize the Start Menu and remove (un-tick) Search then Security360 reports one 'Threat'

IObit Security 360

OS:Windows XP

Version:1.0.0.60

Define Version:1176

Time Elapsed:00:05:24

Objects Scanned:57724

Threats Found:1

|Name|Type|Description|ID|

Hijack.StartMenu, Registry Data, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced Value=Start_ShowSearch, 6-680

If I delete the 'Threat' the next time I start up my computer then Search has returned to the Start Menu.

Security360 scan does not find any "Threat"

Remove the Search from Start Menu and the 'Threat' returns, and so on and so forth

All the best, woz of oz
