How AWC works ...

... to prevent spyware? Should it be running or like SpywareBlaster that is run, updated and left alone.

 

My question is also related to it's memory consumption. At first run with no scans running uses about 29Megs, and while running goes up to 44megs.

 

I try to keep less apps at same time to improve performance but when using tabbed browsing, Virtual Machines, AV, Firewall, and now days required apps I'm fighting with 350-450 megs of used memory in a 512MB system.

 

I'ts curious how many performance apps are resource hungry. Nothing against AWC I like the app.

Hi oscarhc,

AWC does not need to be running to block spyware.When you scan & repair in "Spyware Defense", it will block active X and cookies in your browser mapping. It "tells" your browser what to keep out. The advantages of keeping AWC Pro running in the background are scheduled scans & auto updates. You can shut it down and just open the program when you want to scan, but be sure to check for updates often!

Yes, also, even if your decide to turn off AWC (remove it from start-up) and you still have a scan schedule the program will still execute at the scheduled time as it is referenced in the windows scheduler.
