System Optimization not working Win 7

Everything seems to be scanning and fixing just fine except System Optimization. The blinking arrow that usually is next to the title of whatever you're scanning is way up in the header graphic and it either just scans FOREVER or just stops for no reason. Any ideas. I have uninstalled and

reinstalled but that did not fix it.
