What does it mean?

Hey !

I recently downloaded the tool ASC, and I must say, is fantastic,

It works great, is getting stronger and keeps your computer safe use

But I noticed that when I performed disk defragmentation, the amount of space available get down

so, what does it mean ?

it means that the tool is not so good to my PC ?

I had 94.4 free hard disk space

After the defragmentation is decreased to 94.1.

(sorry about my english , i'm working on it  )

Hi Chen

Welcome to the forum!

Is this an on-going problem or did you just notice it one time?

Cheers

Hi Chen

Yes please try defragment again, what type of defrag did you do the first time? Try the next - and then after that the ultimate one.

I am sure there are hebrew speaking people here, aren't you reading the interface in hebrew? As far as I remember it has been translated.

Well, I think it happened once, I'm not sure, you want me to do defragmentation again?

By the way, thanks for the welcome lol :)

Another small question

There are Jews here? Or people who speak Hebrew?

Hi Chen

What a fine printscreen picture!

Have you read Usage of IObit Products?

As I understand you now you only have ASC installed, - not SmartDefrag?

In that case you will only get the disk defragged I think - not optimized?

Just try to download SmartDefrag and try it - it is totally free.

One of the best if not the best of the free defragmenters.

Very thoughtful of you to change the interface for my sake, thank you!

Please read Thinking about defragmentation too!

Here is what I chose for the first time

It was supposed to be Hebrew, but I changed it for you to understand

What I chose was good? Or did i do wrong?

Hi Chen

"This will return me the space available was taken from me ?"

That I don't know - I do not know what happened in your machine - all machines and configurations are different, - but at least you will have made it run better and faster I hope.

One guess is that the ASC makes a restore point - and this will take up some space - depending on how much changes it has made.

Per default you have 20 restore points and when you reach the 21st the first one will be deleted - and then perhaps you will regain some space.

You can chose to have only a few restore points in the restore center and in that way the cache won't take up as much space - I make do with 5 restore points. It is mostly only myself that uses this machine.

Hi again Chen

I just checked

By me the restore center contains 5 restore points for changes made.

They are between 70 Kb and 20 Kb, let's say 250 Kb in all.

But if your disk was very fragmented the first time you ran the defrag it could easily be more than my five restore points contain - by you.

20 restore point could then easily be between 1 Mb and perhaps 2-5 Mb depending on how much used space your disk contains and the fragmentation level.

Please remember to tick "Use SmartDefrag for defragmentation" in your settings, if you have that program installed by now.

Adjø (au revoir)

solbjerg

p.s. By rule of thumb - if you divide the number of changes by 10 you get a rough estimate as to how many Kb it contains per restore point :-)

p.p.s. ø is written by holding down the Alt key and pressing 0248 on the numberpad

If you are at wit's end (between a rock and a hard place) you can also use the Swedish ö straghtforwardly on normal keyboards I think ;-)
