GB v2 'Game Essentials' bugged?

Valethar

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

Just installed version 2.0, and found a glitch, I think. The Game Essentials tab claims that I don't have Ventrilo 3.0.5 or Steam installed, despite them both being installed, updated and working.

Is GB looking for them in a specific location, and thus returning erroneous information? My installs of Ventrilo and Steam are on the drive dedicated to my games, rather than on the system drive.

Any ideas on why this is happening, and/or ways to correct it?

Hi Valethar

Did you install the extras through the program?

Come again?

Ventrilo and Steam were installed before GB2 ever came out. Why would I need to RE-install them? Shouldn't GB2 be detecting them on it's own, without having to reinstall existing programs?

Hi Valethar

I have had that happen a couple of times, installing a program in fx. programs - and it didn't function unless I went into the registry and changed som keys.

If instead I then uninstalled the program and installed it again in C: - it worked at once without a hitch. (it was that location the install program chose by default without user input.)

Why? I don't know :-)

Hi Valethar

:-) That is precisely why I have mentioned that if the programs got installed through GameBooster it would indeed be odd if GameBooster could not see/find them.

I don't think you're understanding the issue.

Ventrilo and Steam work fine. The issue is that Game Booster 2 claims they are not installed at all.
