Recommended Posts

my system xp3 got infected and i got a message that one of my hard drives was corrupted. the windows ! on the taskbar appeared then then a red x.rebooted my system no application could be launched, checked all programs and all the installed applications disappeared. i had mcafee anti virus installed and asc v4 pro installed at the time..booted to safe mode and run system restore, back 3 days prior to the infection was successful but still none of the icons could launch an application.shut down and booted to windows 7.run avg anti virus scan on xp3 1/4 of the scan my system shut down, run scan disk/r for xp3 showed files were repaired.but when i booted w/xp3 same issue...scanned xp3 hdd w/mcafee on a different pc,got trojan infection and worm..cleaned viruses, still no all programs and when i start asc v.4 update.exe error. none of the desktop icon works, quick launch empty.to be able to use a browser you have to go to program files and launch it there. made a big mistake of exploring xp3 hdd while booted w/ windows 7 now it's also infected same issue as xp3 hdd. for windows 7 all restore points has been deleted..all of my programs a screwed up w/both os.. i have attached a bug report..can any one assist me with this issue? thanks

Hello and welcome to IOBit Forums. My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer.

1. I will be working on your Malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.

2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.

3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.

4. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans while I am helping you.

5. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.

7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

If you can't access the internet with your infected computer you will have to download and transfer any programs to the computer you're using now and transfer them to the infected computer with a CD-RW or a USB storage device. I prefer a CD because a storage device can get infected. If you use a storage device hold the shift key down while inserting the USB storage device for about 10 secs. You will also have to transfer the logs you receive back to the good computer using the same method until we can get the computer back on-line.

Is this a dual-boot machine Windows XP and Windows 7?
