How To Get Rid Of Alfa Defender?

Recommended Posts

Hello can anyone please help me get rid of this malware?

Using Malware Fighter-Alfa Defender was flagged up and supposedly fixed. But each time I ran Malware Fighter it would repeatedly be flagged up so it wasn't getting fixed properly. Now whenever I reboot my computer I get a "risk registry modify" message from the autorun of Malware Fighter. I click block as recommended. But I'm still getting errors in IE8 and I've tried to download Firefox from three different sites and all failed. Can anyone please help?

Hello and welcome to IOBit Forums. My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer.

1. I will be working on your Malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.

2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.

3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.

4. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans while I am helping you.

5. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.

7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

If you can't access the internet with your infected computer you will have to download and transfer any programs to the computer you're using now and transfer them to the infected computer with a CD-RW or a USB storage device. I prefer a CD because a storage device can get infected. If you use a storage device hold the shift key down while inserting the USB storage device for about 10 secs. You will also have to transfer the logs you receive back to the good computer using the same method until we can get the computer back on-line.

P2P - I see you have P2P software installed on your machine (BitComet 1.28). We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It is certainly contributing to your current situation.

Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.

I would strongly recommend that you uninstall them, however that choice is up to you. If you choose to remove these programs, you can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs.

***************************************************

Please go to Jotti's malware scan

(If more than one file needs scanned they must be done separately and links posted for each one)

* Copy the file path in the below Code box:

c:\windows\is-2NE89.exe

* At the upload site, click once inside the window next to Browse.

* Press Ctrl+V on the keyboard (both at the same time) to paste the file path into the window.

* Next click Submit file

* Your file will possibly be entered into a queue which normally takes less than a minute to clear.

* This will perform a scan across multiple different virus scanning engines.

* Important: Wait for all of the scanning engines to complete.

* Once the scan is finished, Copy and then Paste the link in the address bar into your next reply.

Please download ComboFix http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/4930/combofix.gif from BleepingComputer.com

Alternate link: GeeksToGo.com

and save it to your Desktop.

It would be easiest to download using Internet Explorer.

If you insist on using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

* Tools->Options->Main tab

* Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools A guide to do this can be found here

Double click ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console

http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/pp322/digistar/Query_RC.gif

Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/pp322/digistar/RC_successful.gif

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the contents of C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

If you have problems with ComboFix usage, see How to use ComboFix

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi there,

thank you for your continual help with this but I'm afraid the situation has gone much worse. Unfortunately after I posted here I ran Malware Fighter and it detected two trojans-when I tried to fix them my computer rebooted and has been stuck at the login screen of windows ever since. I'm using a work's PC at the moment as I can't get online on my own pc. Before this happened my computer booted up straight into windows without any login screen. When I try to login it automatically logs out at the same time so windows won't load. I've tried booting from a windows cd and other boot metjods but nothing will work I am trapped at this login screen it looks like the virus has blocked windows. Can you help me at all? I may not be online for a bit as I can only get online sometimes on work breaks.

Thank you for the continued help with these problems. I'm now using a new pc with Superantispyware free edition, malwarebytes antimalware and advanced systemcare-I won't use malware fighter in case this happens again. Unfortunately my broke pc won't recognise the cdrom drive to boot from a windows cd. Anyway thanks for the help.

Also a huge thanks for the other links-Jotti's malware scan and Combofix(which I've used for the recovery mode in case of future infection). Personally speaking I think if we don't use P2P software (which can be used for legit reasons) we are letting the corporations that create these viruses and spread them through such software win. Having lost two pcs due to viruses I think I should learn how to fight back so I'm going to look into how to become a malware fighter myself and possibly train through the Tech Support forums.

Many thanks for the continued help with these problems I am genuinely grateful and appreciate it. You have helped me save this pc from going the same way.

ComboFix and other such programs are not toys and should not be used unless under the instruction of an expert.

In that case, you're on track for getting another infection.

You have helped me save this pc from going the same way.

This article should help.
