Surf Canyon browser extension

I can't uninstall this from Chrome using the publisher's instructions. No matter how often I un-install, it reappears and slows down my computer. It has no file path, so IObit Uninstall Unwanted Apps doesn't see it. Can anyone offer a solution?

If you are not seeing any other symptoms of malware you could try the following first.

(You might have already seen this if you are alanpaterson8)

If you are unable to uninstall Surf Canyon by following the directions on our website, then something else on your computer is most likely blocking the uninstall. Sandboxie is one example of a program that can do this. The extension uninstall progress is completely handled by the Chrome browser, not Surf Canyon. "It's obviously coded to be ineradicable" is completely false.

 

The Surf Canyon program is called surfcanyon.crx and should be located in a directory like c:\program files\chrome. You may just delete that file. Should you have any difficulties, you may contact us using http://www.surfcanyon.com/contact.jsp. We don't want our software installed an anyone's computer that doesn't want it.

 

Try deleting surfcanyon.crx first and see if that gets rid of it

 

If you are seeing any other symptoms of malware then please follow the procedure in the thread Guidelines for requesting malware removal assistance and then wait for a Malware Fighter to respond.
