I wonder if the xp one would work on 7 or 8 you think the file is 1bit smaller then the one we use Now...

wonder if it would run..the one from XP OS? you Think

Oh by the way many thanks for the Zip file...at least I have a copy now...

on my tools drive ..(outside in the Box) Just in case

taking no risk rid my one.tho I think It was and (not sure tho).scanning it was Cleared --yet when in use was classed as possible bad, Your one cleared

in use and not used...

one thing I got out of all this is you certainly need it to see the computer..

the drive booted fine and hitting ctrl+alt+del popping up the start mangier..

but no screen bar it being Dark.

Mr bean, I don't think userinit.exe (5.1.2600.5512) of XP will work instead of userinit.exe (6.1.7601.17514) of Win7 in Windows 7.

I don't know, but that's my idea anyway.

Personally, I wouldn't even try it, but you are an experiment guy and easily can revert back by a backup image or Linux.

It is your choise to go or not!

Cheers.

Haaa

Hi dear friend

well you were dead right..such a small file can flux a system!!

but trying it out changed the file with the XP one...copy your one to my pen drive..(safety) now rebooted to the OS and ended in a nice black screen

yet it did boot the system, hit Ctrl-Allt-del started the mangier..

found your one taped it ,and longed the system on..as if it would normally..

now .rebooted into Linux, replaced your file back ,diluted the XP one...rebooted

and got a nice blue dump screen!!!!

Whoosh ----!!!

rebooted Again and the same...Mmm looks grim..OK in with win 7 install disk

booted that and hit repair the system....

well As luck had it did...and we are back to normal

any how was a bit of fun trying out >

DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE NOT BACKED UP AND HAVE MEANS OF REPLACING THE DISCUSSED OS and files...

you can lose the lot...
