Hi Alejandro

From what I see in your report I would try checking your services by writing services.msc in Run. Information and recommandations can be found on the BlackViper site. Please read it carefully.

Also I would check dxdiag also written in Run and see if any tests give errors.

Cheers

Similar Problem on a Win 7 platform

Hi,

I came to this forum today as a result of a similar problem with ASC5 free.

I use multiple virus scanners however and the free microsoft scanner mscert from thier win 7 help web site.

Here is my story and I am now at a loss on what to do. I suspect an unidentifed spyware or trojan is on my system but I am not convinced yet. This week I turned on my laptop and it downloaded MSE update KB2310138 which failed. The system became very very slow.

MSE started not working. I run scans weekly and had no positives identifed using either Iobit Malware nor MSE. I deleted both and restored my system to a point two weeks before

KB2310138 where I had a good point made after three separate scans for viruses, malware and trojans with no positives.

Anyway, I deleted MSE and reinstalled MSE and updated through KB2310138 and did a full scan with no threats found. I then unistalled MSE and used Iobit Malware updated through

May 25 definitions and ran a scan again with no positives found from a full scan.

My CPU and RAM took off over 75% and more being used. I got to MSCONFIG

and disabled everything both services and processes and booted in safe mode

ran scans again both with no detections.

So, I finally got the CPU and Ram under control by one way. Deleting all of ASC 5 Free

with its components and tailoring back all the win services, now my system runs well but

I truly have no idea what part of it may still be contaminated with something.

I visited PCPitstop and did a system scan for issues, it identified a unusually busy cpu and

recommended page file changes and a scan for malware. I did both manually, changed the amount of the paging file, because I have plenty of empty disk space to use and used another scan for malware which still detected nothing. The change in the page file size got my cpu and RAM under control so I could work email and browsers and printing but a number of my processes and services are remained turned off. I am afraid if I go back to a normal boot sequence it will run out of control again so I am using a selective boot and only MSE and CC cleaner at this time.

I loved ASC free have used it for years and never thought it would have anything that would

impact so quickly and severely. I truly think a bad windows software update or bad ASC update somewhere exists. I have run cpu diagnostics and memory diagnostics and win fix it software to detect issues, and of course nothing exists. I am at a loss on what to do as I still think I have the original issue only temporarily delayed its start. I am considering a total windows recovery back to day 1 but I think as soon as windows updates takes over my system will be trashed again.

I am running Win7 Home Edition SP1 on a Toshiba Satellite A505 Laptop with 4GB Ram and Intel Core i3 processor. I have heavily considered using AVG free or Avast free to see if anything else is detected. But I am at a loss on what to do, other than begin paying for a technician to run it to the ground, and I would rather just buy a new laptop if needed.

Ideas? Anybody?

Hi Jaffo, nice to see you back in the Forum again!

Since you are suspicious about virus/trojan or something, you can open a thread in Spyware-Malware Removal Help! section following the procedure there and wait for a Malware Fighter to respond.

On the other hand, you can use Process Explorer from Sysinternals (MS) to analyze the high CPU usage and use KrView (It works for Win7 too) to check if System CPU is high and a driver is causing it.

Please also read The Case of the System Process CPU Spikes from Mark Russinovich from Sysinternals if System CPU is high.

Cheers.

Thanks

I have used your advice although I also read the article you suggested as well, both very good suggestions. I am working with the process explorer right now. I have run several different kinds of antivirus/malware software without detections so it must be a wayward driver or system process but I am not sure how to read the process explorer results window so I am going to have to take some time with it to figure out what it is telling me.

The recommended article was a great read, I wish I had seen it sooner. My CPU usage and

RAM useage are now at manageable levels so I can play with diagnostics now to see what it may be. I have to say everything began to go back to normal without ASC 5 and Iobit Malware on the system anymore. I do not know if it was the turbo boost and smart ram

and perf monitor part of the app or not. I have seen somewhat similar posts in the past about some difficulties with those.

Again, many thanks for offering an option.
