VTzilla is a Mozilla Firefox browser plugin that simplifies the process of scanning Internet resources with VirusTotal. It allows you to download files directly with VirusTotal's web application prior to storing them in your PC. Moreover, it will not only scan files, but also URLs.

 

I apologies if I may be incorrect but doesn't traditional security softwares do this all?

No apology necessary mithcd. This is simply letting you scan a file or url giving you a result from at least 40 different anti virus products, i.e., avg, bitdefender, comodo, etc, all at the same time. It's just a step up from checking a file with just one application like malwarbytes or Iobit's own malware fighter.
