Java 8 is out but!!!

Java 8 RE is released!

 

 

Java Runtime Environment 32-Bit 8

Java Runtime Environment 64-Bit 8

 

Unfortunately XP is not supported.

Oracle JDK 8 and JRE 8 Certified System Configurations

 

Trying to install to XP gives the error below:

"The procedure entry point RegDeleteKeyExA could not be located in the dynamic link library advapi32.dll"

From 7.51 to 8. WoW! Regarding the XP issue, I think they really meant this. To encourage people to ditch XP. But guess what, people always find a way.

Installing java 8 does not delete the old java 7. you need to check and delete java 7 manually. Had to do this on two win 8.1 computers.
