BSOD at shutdown on XP with ASC 7.3.0.456

Since installing the latest update, I am getting a BSOD when I shut these two laptops off.

One is running XP Pro SP3 with all updates.

The other is a VERY recent clean install of XP Home SP3 with all updates.

After doing several tests of uninstalling and reinstalling ASC with ALL extra protection OFF,

[bTW, the native ASC uninstaller never says when it finishes - it just disappears :(]

I used Bluescreenview to look at the dump files - it looks like a NT Kernel error.

I also tried only uninstalling Surfing Protection and Iobit Uninstaller - same error.

With ASC uninstalled completely, the machine has no errors.

It was suggested that I try running UPHClean on the system. When I did this, looking at the Event Viewer Application Log, right BEFORE the BSOD, UPHClean notes that it is having to "remap" handles from ASCService.exe dealing with Internet Explorer in order to let my profile unload. (I am using IE8 of course.)

Of all the different settings and everything I have tried - the ONLY thing that prevents the BSOD is to stop the ASCService before I shutdown.

Any ideas?

Hi there,

Thanks for your feedback.

To look into the issue, please find and zip all files under C:\windows\Minidump and send them to us.

Besides, please download the tool from http://testdemo.iobit.com/InfoHelperV7.exe

Then double click to run this tool and click “Save report to Desktop”. You will get a zipped file IObit_Debug_Info.zip on your desktop. Please send it to us so that we can get the detailed information to look into.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Requested Files Attached

Aloha Cicely,

Thank you for your quick response.

Congratulations on your 5 year anniversary on the board! I noticed that's today....

OK, sorry it took me a couple of days to have time to do this, but I've attached the files you asked for.

Thanks in advance for your help!
