False Positive VE7CC Downloader

Recommended Posts

This is not the first time that I have brought this ongoing problem to your attention, and I am wondering when it will get corrected. The VE7CC Cluster program is a popular amateur radio program that uses the "downloader.exe" file in the program to enable updates to be incorporated into the program.

Here is the Iobit report file:

IObit Malware Fighter

OS: Windows XP

Version: 2.4.1.16

Define Version: 1367

Time Elapsed: 02:09:22

Objects Scanned: 73148

Threats Found: 1

Save Time: 8/25/2014 9:32:06 AM

|Name|Type|Description|ID|

Trojan.Generic, FILE, C:\Ham\VE7CC\Downloader.exe, 4020092

You can find the free program at: http://www.bcdxc.org/ve7cc/ccc/cluster.htm

You should be able to look at the downloader file there.

Hi John R,

Thanks for your feedback, please follow the procedure for Guidelines and Requirements for Reporting a False Positive

Most probably false positive, but to check whether it is a real false positive, please find and upload the file you mentioned to http://wikisend.com/ and post the link to download the file.

• Upload the files that were reported as threat to VirusTotal and supply the report link in your next post mentioned above.

• Also, ZIP the file that were reported as threat and upload it to Wikisend and supply the link in your next post mentioned above.

You can use THIS post as an example.

Cheers.

Thanks, Enoskype! and also Rourkem. I tried to upload the VE7CC Downloader.exe file to Wikisend and got an error message: "We are sorry, but an error has occured while uploading." (The file is only 36 KB!) I tried it twice and then tried uploading downloader.zip -- all the same error problem. So I've tried two of the three things you suggested with no luck.

The last thing I've tried is Virus Total. They said the file has been analyzed previously -- back in February 2010 (that's before I joined the Iobit Forums!) So I got through to one of the three you suggested. Rourkem -- perhaps you'd be willing to give the Wikisend a try with the downloader.exe file??

Here's the link to the file at Virus Total: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/3...6a39/analysis/

Thanks! John R.

EDIT: As it seems to be a false positive, please try attaching the file to your post after compressing as a .zip or .rar file.

Note: Your above link for VirusTotal works OK.
