ASC Monitor RAM Usage...

I just updated from v7 to 8.1 and the Monitor is indicating a Large Bump in RAM usage! ??

Is ASC v8.1 using significantly more RAM than v7?

OR

Is v8.1 monitoring something it didn't monitor before or is it Reporting RAM usage differently??

Previous usage hovered around 17% while ranging from 5% to short intervals of 40-50% as programs/utilities were launched - then it'd generally settle back down to a few percentage points of where it started.

NOW it reports a static 64% usage Thumbs down (2.22 GB of 3.50 GB) . This is nonsensical! Even a reboot - (or sweeps) with nothing else running it shows upper 50%'s. ???

This is Significant CONCERN :-(.

Please explain!!

Otherwise Thanks for a good utility :-)!

Hi mbp

Welcome to the Forum.

Did you check your RAM usage figures against your windows Task Manager (ctrl-alt-esc). While the Monitor and Task Manager values may not be identical, they should be pretty close. This will tell you if the

Monitor is correct.

The v8.1 values sound more normal than the very low values you quote for v7. Also it is very unusual for ram to spike high and then drop low. Ram only drops when a process is halted. RAM usage depends on the amount of processes running.

Additionally, RAM usage would spike if there's an ongoing scan run. It could be possible that it got to 50% at one point because it may be proccessing other things. It will eventually settle down. 1.gif
