Hey guys, this time i need help. A friend dropped off her computer, a corrupt system 32 config thingie. I recovered those files, fixed them, and the computer is up and running. I had also discovered a bunch of malware so i cleaned them out. But what i dont get, is the fonts are in Arabic. I tried changing the language pack and all, but no go. Any ideas?

Please look at my log

I'm having problems removing Trojan.Brisv.A!inf. I have tried to remove this virus using Norton Antivirus which identified the virus but ask me to perform additional manual activities. I follow the instructions and downloaded Symantec Trojan.Brisv.A Removal Tool but it tells me it can't find the virus. I aslo downloaded Advance System Care and it identified some problems but did not elimanate the virus. The instructions were to post the Hijack Analysis Report in this forum. Some addtional information I believe I got this virus through stupidly using Limewire which I have uninstalled but of course can't delete the file that has the virus. I tried everything. I would really appreciate any help. I have windows vista.

This is my Hijack Analysis Report:

Trojan

Hi nikolita-Did you boot up and run the Sym. tool in safe mode?(if not,do so)If that fails,I would suggest SuperAntiSpyware , Malwarebytes,or A Squared(all free)Other options are here and here. You may also want to download Reg Seeker from here to search for all Limewire entries(since it seems you were not the only one to be infected through that app.)Note:A full paid version of Spyware Doctor is available for free if you download from Google Pack(you must take one other freebie like Google Earth etc.),then just remove those later.Lastly, scrap out Win. Defender, and by all means that Norton junk you're running(that's why you're infected to begin with)get Avira Personal,or Avast and pair either one of those with something like Spyware Blaster,Threatfire,or Comodo BoClean.Keep the free versions of SAS and MB for weekly scans (just remember they require manual updating) Good luck and happy hunting!

Hi lucas_w,

Perhaps the unknowns are the problem, specifically stllssvr.exe for printing (the technical security rating is 13% dangerous. Some malware camouflage themselves as stllssvr.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Thus check the stllssvr.exe process on your PC whether it is a pest ), and also you need to update your programs such as:

Java (Important, as version 13th update is available and yours is 7th.)

Adobe

etc.....

Your msn is on,

Shared\hpqwmiex.exe of Hewlett Packard is shared.

All of the above may have seen as security gaps.

Why don't you also send it as a HijackThis Report to a specific forum as described when you use ASC?

Cheers.

I can't figure out how to install the DirectX update...it just asks me where to put the files, then does nothing...where should I put them?

Just for the heck of it, I ran Hi-Jack This...see if anything jumps out at those who may understand it.

And a Couple More

Good advice Vman-I would also make a run with this (Dr.Web CureIt! v5.0) free and very effective scanner.Make sure you select the full scan mode.Another great one for root kits can be found here (F-SECURE Blacklight Rootkit Elimiator). And while you're at that site,I recommend the online scanner and get their Exploitation Shield which recognizes Conflicker(it's Beta, but don't be scared-it works great for me)Download that from here (F-SECURE Exploit Shield). And with April 1st fast approaching, you could top it all off with a scan by Trend Micro Housecall-just Google that one.Best of luck
