Great post! I think everyone sholud contribute their useful input to make this thread more successful. I would like to provide some useful points. Periodically clean out your computer files that are stored such as temporary internet history, etc. USB thumb drive is good for putting important information on, like logins and digital receipts. Most of the computer tips are geared toward doing things that are more or less routine maintenance. It is always very helpful that you want to sincerely learn so that makes the work a bit more pleasant.

WinPatrol

Great job on a comprehensive list for computer security Usefulll !

But did I miss WinPatrol? There is a Free one as well as the Plus (Pro) one. Both flavours protect your computer from any changes not made by you, including system files, Hosts file and many more. There is even scripts from the website that you can copy/past over to your WinPatrol that thwarts any attemp by anyone to disable your AV or Firewall. You can view a screenshot on the front page. I have run this for a long time and it plays nice with all other security programs and is quite excellent. Go Here:

Enjoy it! It is excellent.

Thanks for sharing these tips it was very informative. Most of us use Wifi connections but sometimes we have to rely on public wifi services especially while travelling.Always choose your network safely. Before you connect your system to any wifi network always verify the name of the network with anyone present before connecting. If you are connected through windows you could turn off file sharing and mark the wifi as a public network.Check for HTTPS.You can force your browser to use HTTPS through an extension called HTTPS Everywhere. This si available for most browsers. It works by activating encryption on all supported parts of the website. It is good if you enable a two factor authentication, it provides you an extra layer of protection. Here is a blog from csp alarms that mentions some tips on how to keep your wifi connection secure http://cspalarms.ca/blog/wireless-security-systems/how-to-make-your-wireless-security-system-hack-proof/

I work in IT, and the last time something like this happened to me, I had a great time. Pretended to be a stupid user who led them on a wild goose chase, claiming I didn't know the difference between macOS and Windows, couldn't find the power button, couldn't connect to wifi, couldn't find my own desktop, and so on. They were so annoyed/frustrated after about 30 minutes of playing dumb that I knew they just wanted to remote in and take control. Finally, in small talk, the guy asks, "so where do you work?" to which I respond, "Oh, I've been an IT technician for the last four years." He then hangs up.
