Hi hainaloa

There is also a short list of abbreviations/acronyms in this post:

MFT (Master File Table) is the place where information about every file and directory on an NTFS (New Technology File System) volume is stored. The MFT is a relational database table, containing various properties about different files. It acts as the "starting point" and central managing feature of an NTFS volume--kind of a "table of contents" for the volume,

In it's way akin to the former FAT32 (File Allocation Table)(32 bit architecture 2^32 bits)

Take a look at the comparison in the attached zip file.

The newest possibility (available for the general user) is using 64 bit architecture (2^64 bits)

The glossary at the bottom of Smart Defrag has a square labeled MFT. Although I've come up with several obscene possibilities, what does it mean?
