SD 1.50 & Floppy Drive

Recommended Posts

Hi knightsbbs,

I don't have a direct floppy drive, (mine is through USB), so did you try to check "Do not display flash drives and solid-state drives. (Recommended)" option in Options?

If you have Enabled Auto Defrag in Auto Defrag section, please try to choose your System Drive (supposedly C:) for "Choose volume(s) for auto defrag" and see if it still continues to access floppy drive.

Cheers.

Selecting the "Do not display flash drives and solid-state drives." worked. Thank you!

How about USB devices anyway?

So SD is now supporting flash drives and SSD, which is more or less useless because both use a wear leveling mechanism so defragged or not the internal "processor" determines where data is written, so defragging only shifts around data and will cause extra wear and thereby shorten the lifetime of the device.

That being said: I've USB hard disks which do need defragmentation from time to time, but SD still does not recognize them...

I think it is a misinterpretation by IObit to say that SD support flash and SSD drives, in fact, the function is to recognize them to exclude.

Cheers.

I suppose we should Interpret that as meaning:

'It Sees them but Still does Not know what to Do with them' LOL
