The What's New File in Smart Defrag Ver. 1.50 states:

"Tip: You can highly improve defragmenting speed by temporarily disabling the background real-time security program, or adding Smart Defrag into the trust zone or white list of your security program."

What is meant by "security program"? Are you talking about antivirus software, firewall, or something else?

Yes, Programs such as Microsoft-Security-Essentials, AVG, Stopzilla, etc.

With most Security software, adding it to Whitelist is as simple as clicking OK or Allow, when asked by system to allow access by the program.
