Windows Vista does not shut down

Thanks for the interest in my trouble with this software.

Never installed any defrag software before on this pc.

Installation of this software was uneventful.

Left all settings as originally installed.

Ran the "Defrag and Fast Optimize" without any trouble. No bugreport file to be found in iobit folder.

Now Windows will not normally shut down. Stays at "Shutting Down" screen with clock icon spinning. This just started after installing this software.

Searching this forum only found a 2009 incident posted about similar issue which was not closed with a remedy. Please help.

Sounds like it never finished the Optimize. It can take a very long time the first time you run it on a computer that has never been defraged.

If you power down the computer will it Re-boot?

(By power-down I mean turn off power-supply-swtich or unplug it)

 

If it re-boots and if you have and know about the 'Process Explorer' utility, that comes with Windows,

then use it to determine what is continueing to run in background, causing it to not shut down.
