I would suggest getting another Hard-drive

and only have Windows OS files on the C: drive

and put everything possible on the new D: drive.

 

Some programs must to be on C: but move or reinstall as much as you can to new drive.

 

500.GB drives can be purchased at a low cost now.

As long as your computer's motherboard will connect to the newer SATA type drives, there's no problem,

but if your's requires the older ATA type connections, then finding a good new drive may be more difficult.
