Rising Antivirus Free Edition 20.44, good, ok, bad, sucks?

Has anyone heard of this antivirus or uses it?

not heard of it. With security software its best to keep to recommended ones.

What sunny said. The only reviews seem to be on download sites and they all feature the publisher's marketing blurb. Cnet gave the 2006 version 1 star.

If you want, you could download CUREIT, which is basically a excutable antivirus. Its not exactly a full on antivirus, its just a scanner. But the detection rate is pretty good.

I guess youll have to search it up xD but my Crawler Toolbar reports it as a Phishing site so dont buy anything from there!

It's the No.1 anti-virus product in China, but I don't like it at all. I think it doesn't suit the users in other country.

OK!! Thanks to all the responses! I was just curious since AVG 7.5 Free Edition will soon be history and AVG8 seems to be a nightmare, I was looking for some options.

I'm leaning towards Avast!, didn't care for Avira.

Any other programs (free of course) that people here at the forum use?

I was a long time user of AVG (FREE) and loved it, but then they come out with version 8.0. I tried a couple of times with this one and it was an abomination, took 5+ hours to do a scan, used all the available RAM and missed a spyware file. I ditched it and went with AntiVir (FREE) in conjunction with COMODO BoClean (FREE).

Another very good "one time"virus scanner is Trend Micro House Call-and as for that other thing being #1 in China,isn't that where 90% of the world's viruses and malware are written and generated from? Kind of ironic,don't you think?
