Installation of FREE and PRO editions of ASC 3.
    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________
    Hi Everybody,

The comparison of PRO and FREE is HERE .

Regardless of what it says on the third party web pages, unless it is officially announced by IObit or here in this IObit Forum (Example: HERE) , there is only one Setup file for FREE and PRO editions.

-When you install ASC 3 over old version of your own ASC 3 edition, the edition of the new version will be the same as respective to your edition.

-If you are a new user of ASC 3, or a user of AWC2 Personal, it will install as FREE edition.
You can upgrade to ASC 3 PRO edition by buying it and entering the User Name and License Code (which is sent to your e-mail), into the FREE version.

-If you are a user of AWC2 Professional edition with future expiration date, when you install the setup of ASC 3 on top of it, it will ask you if you wish the old License Code to be converted to a new one, then it will create the new License Code for you.
Someone who has the problem with license code conversion can go to http://www.iobit.com/lostcode.php, and enter your correct, application e-mail address. Then you will get the new License Code that has been converted into ASC V3's License Code.

-If you still have a problem, please read this post of Tim Xue.

    Thank you and Cheers.

Please take a look at the attached pictures

You click on your User Account and the next window comes up

    Over the top/Clean install

In the Forum we sometimes use special expressions which once in a while isn't clearly understood. Here is a more verbose description

    Over the top:
This is often used to describe the process of installing a program, where you leave it completely up to the Install program to do the uninstall of the old program or/and Install of the new program.
This usually means that it is installed in the previous folder for that program and the files and folders in the program folder with the same name is deleted and exchanged with the new version.
This is often OK, but sometimes the previous program has created new folders/files in the program folder, and these are not deleted ( we call these "leftovers") and they can sometimes be the reason for problems in the performance of the new program version.
There can also be applications in the program running in the background that will interfere with a functional install.
Exit all applications from the program running in the background before installing a new version or an update!

    Clean Install:
If you experience trouble after an "Over the top" installation, we often recommend that you do a "Clean Install". This entails uninstalling the previous program through the uninstall command or through Control Panel/Add-Remove programs. And after that to delete either the folder of the program usually located in C:\programs/IObit - and then either ASC folder or SmartDefrag folder or deleting the relevant content of the folder.
You should also check C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\IObit\ program name for leftovers.
(Usually it is easier just to delete the folder)
After this is accomplished we often also recommend that the registry is cleaned for "leftovers" by another registry cleaner.
This whole process of a Clean uninstallation before the actual Install can be accomplished by an application called Revo Uninstaller.
    Or Iobit's own IObit Uninstaller.
When all this is done you install the new program version.
This is what we understand by a "Clean Install".
This method calls for your attention to the "Problems" generated when you run a Scan - before clicking Repair
The reason is that your previous settings is removed by deleting the folder, therefore you have to do that (checking "Problems" and the "Settings" - and refresh your license information if you are using the pro version) again.

      Using ASC

      First Scan/Repair

When you have installed ASC and let it open by itself, it usually runs a Maintain Windows scan.

After it has scanned "Spyware removal", "Registry Fix", "Privacy Sweep" and "Junk Files Clean", it will show what "Problems" it found.
You then have to click on "Problems" under each category and if you find an item that you do not think should be "repaired", you just mark it and click "ignore", this places it in the "Ignore list" - and it will not be presented as a "problem" anymore.

If you have configured the "Settings" under all categories to your need, it should work flawlessly.
When this is all done to your satisfaction you click "Repair" and the program cleans away the "problems" (deletes them)
The first few times (1-2-3) You should not use the middle button "Care", while this does scan AND repair automatically!!
But after everything is configured to your satisfaction, you CAN just use the "Care" button.
(And then it actually IS a "one-click solution")

Next you click on the button "Diagnose System"

This will scan "System Optimization", "Security Defense" (Please read this post about Security Defense), "Disk Defragment" and "Security Analyzer" when you click "Scan"
Again it will show what "Problems" it has found under each category.
You must then click on "Problems" and find out which to accept being cleaned and which to ignore (place in ignore list)

Fully optimizes Windows for ultimate system performance and top Internet speed by unleashing the built-in power of your system, based on how you use your PC and your network configuration. Ultimate Optimization technology can turn your PC into a business PC, a productive workstation, an entertainment center, a game machine, or a scientific computing PC.
You can choose which kind of optimizing you want
(I go with the "Daily Use")
Connection speed is usually automatically set to what the computer uses.

The most important area is "System Optimization" which we often see having changed the settings for users that haven't checked their "Problems" before clicking "Repair". The optimization is configured for a large part to use as few resources as possible, this can affect several thing - colour for instance, so you have to be aware of that.
How to get a better idea of what to place in the ignore list.
If you do not know what the items are, you can choose by right clicking on an item to go to the key in regedit, this will enable you to find out a little more what its function is. But do NOT change anything in the registry database unless you know precisely what you are doing. Instead after having seen in what folder it is placed you will be able to guess a little more about its function and can then decide if you need/want to place it in the ignore list.
If in doubt place it in the ignore list (you can always delete it from there when you find out more about its function)
      http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.php?t=8213

If something untoward has happened after running the Optimizing go to Restore Center and restore the latest changes made.
      http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.php?t=2151

Security Analyzer is another place where you have to find out if the recommendations it suggests has anything to do with hi-jacked settings.
Please note the items listed here are not all problems or malware. They are critical settings of your system and common targets of malware. Before you remove any item, make sure it is malware. The log file of Security Analyzer is 100% compatible with HijackThis log so you can save this report and submit it to any qualified online HijackThis log analyzer and HijackThis forums.

Have a look at cicely's post HERE.

When everything in this scan is configured to your satisfaction - you click "Repair".

Both the "Maintain Windows" and the "Diagnose System" "Problems" should be configured before one uses the "Care" button.

      Ignore List
This is the list that are generated when you check the "Problems" during a scan/cleaning and decide that some of the "Problems" are functions that you want to leave without "cleaning" them - because you decide that you need the function as it is. This is done by clicking on the "Problems" (before clicking repair), decide which "problem" should be excluded from "cleaning/repair" - clicking on it and choose the command Ignore, this will place it in the "Ignore List".
If you later decide that you don't need to keep it in the "Ignore List", - you just delete it from the list, and accept the cleaning of that "Problem" during the next scan/cleaning.

NB: Do not overdo the cleaning
      Meaning do not clean continually

For problems with the installation I refer you to this string:

Install – Uninstall - Reinstall – Upgrade to newer version

Install – Uninstall - Reinstall – Upgrade to newer version

          Install:
An install from a downloaded file always starts with a download.
The best way today (if not always) - given the security measures that came in with SP2 - is to download the file to a folder in (on) your computer.
Scan the folder for virus with your antivirus application.
Right click on the install file and choose (Properties)
Remove the blocking from the file.
(Right click the Install file - choose Properties, - click remove blocking - accept - OK)
Then click on the .exe file and Install it.

After the install - check the configurations and settings in the programs and in the add-ins and choose those you need or want.
Then run it – AND check ALL Details ("problems") under each post - before running the repair! Set it as you think you need or want.
Remember that you can use the Ignore list to keep items you do not want to clean out!
If you do it like that, there should be minimal chance of something going wrong.

          Uninstall:
If you encounter problems you can't solve, it is often a good idea to uninstall the program and install it again.
The way to do that with the least chance of something going wrong is to – uninstall – and then remove the ASC folder – after that I recommend that you clean up your registry with another application (for example CCleaner) - then install the newest ASC download version from step one.
          http://forums.iobit.com/showpost.php...13&postcount=2

Revo Uninstaller can be found here:
          http://www.revouninstaller.com/

You can also download IObit Uninstaller and use that

Clean uninstall tool for IObit Products BitRemover can be found in the sticky thread:
          http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.p...6477#post36477

Reinstall / Upgrade to newer version:
If you do not have any problems with your ASC it should be sufficient to download a newer version and install it without removing the previous one.
(It's done automatically by the Install program)
That way all your settings will continue as before.
If you have problems follow the Uninstall procedure

As detailer supplemented: Make sure that no application in the program or the program itself is running in the background, when upgrading or installing/uninstalling.

To make as few mistakes as possible, I think it is the most prudent course of action to leave the automatic functions unchecked, until one has familiarized oneself with the functioning of the program and have configured the details and placed ones preferences in the ignore list.
After that feel free to use the automatic functions, - but remember to deactivate them before upgrading or reinstalling a program.

Ccleaner can be found here: http://www.ccleaner.com/
it's not the only one around, but it is nice and can be downloaded for free

And the string can be found here:
          http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.php?t=509

for later version try following the description of steps in this link:

            About SmartDefrag

The first thing one should do after downloading and installing SmartDefrag is to check the settings:
            The window here says General:

Minimized to System Tray when program is closed (Recommended)
Choose your preferred setting regardless of (Recommended)
If you want to have easy access to the program use the Recommended setting
"coreywolfgang" seems to have some trouble here
            http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.p...ighlight=corey

Load automatically at Windows StartUp (Recommended)
Choose your preferred setting regardless of (Recommended)
If you want to make use of the automatic functions you should put a checkmark in this one.
But bear in mind that it then always is loaded! (Important in uninstall/reinstall/program update situations)

            Automatically check for updates
            Choose your preference

Enable tool tips in System Tray
            Choose your preference

            Select language
            Choose your preference

            Then comes Defragment:

Enable SmartSilent Technology while defragmenting (Recommended)
I would choose the recommended setting.

Stop defrag while using battery (Recommended)
Your choice: Prudent course - the recommended setting
But remember your choice if you are running on battery and SD suddenly stops or won't start.

Skip files larger than 1 GB
            Choose your preference
Here you have a slide going from 100 KB to 10 GB and you can choose any of them. It is pre-set to 1 GB.

Very large files can somtimes stop the defragmentation - it is also important to bear in mind that the harddisk must have sufficient free space to run a defragmentation, usually at least 15% is recommended

            Next Schedule
Select the Volume (disk) you want to schedule.

Enable Schedule if that's what you want to do.

            Configure Schedule to your wishes.
This scheduling seems to need some investigation!!
            http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.php?t=2097

            Next Autodefrag
            Settings

            Enable Autodefrag
            Your preference
But remember that you have it running silently in the background if you have enabled it.
It must be closed before installing a new version

Pause Auto Defrag when resources exceeds 20 procent
Here you have a slide that goes from 20 % to 100%
            I would go with the pre-setting 20%.
I think an option for 10% would be good to have too - hint to IObit.

Start Auto Defrag when the system has been idle for 5 minutes
Here you have a slide that goes from 1 minute to 10 minutes
Your preference; But I would choose the pre-set 5 minutes

            http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.php?t=1990

At last we get to the actual defrag

Here you first choose which Volume to defrag by putting a checkmark in your choice

Then the most prudent course is to choose Analyze
The analysis will recommend an action.
If the Volume (disk) is very fragmented I would recommend that you run "Just Defrag" as your first choice.
If it isn't then follow the analysis recommendation and run a Defrag&Optimize (Now called Fast Optimize)
This can take a while, but if it isn't much fragmented it will often do it in under 10 minutes.
The last option is "Deep Optimize" that tries to place the files so that they do not fragment as easily later.
This defragment option can take some time, especially if it is very fragmented or if the disk only have a small amount of free space.
My advice is to have at least 15% free space.
The timing in the current version has improved but is not perfect
            http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.p...1798#post11798

For more information about defragmentation I refer you to enoskype's thread

            http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.php?t=612
            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defragmentation

The colours showing what type the files are can be customized by clicking on them and choosing your own perferred colours.
This has been possible for some of the latest versions

            Smart Defrag v.2 β1.0 (15-12-2010 version 2. β1.1)
This is the new beta version of Smart Defrag
(Fellow administrators and moderators - feel free to edit, write or rewrite the whole thing)
Many of the functions are similar to Smart Defrag 1.5 so I refer you to the above description for the time being. Later we may make an independent description
But as always check out the settings and choose the settings you want.

The Automatic Defrag works fine - you just have to choose your preferences. After it has run it will tell you the date and time it did in the system tray.

The Boot Time Defrag doesn't really work yet, but IObit expects it to be functional at the next update beta 1.1 in the middle of December.
The new beta version 1.1 has been released 15-12-2010, and the boot time defrag now works.
Additionally you can now change the color legend to your preference.
The option to have it run a chkdsk at next boot or one of the other options works fine. It is the chkdsk that checks your files - not the chkdsk that also checks your free space.
You have to choose that in the settings - it is not available in the Boot Defrag window (might be a good idea to have a button for that function there)
When you have to choose the drive to defrag automatically you just mark it and then click on the golden "no" and it will instantly change to a green "Yes". The same goes for the setting for Boot Time Defrag.

In this version you have the option of saving the report if you should be so inclined.

For the time being there is only English language - according to IObit Guy the other languages will be added as the translations becomes available in version β2.0 in the beginning of the new year.

                ASC Options

The first thing to do after having installed ASC (Advanced System Care) is to check the settings under the menu "Tools"!

In all windows you can choose to go with the recommended settings
                Your preference
(if you prefer - just click the button Recommended)

                In the General window:
Minimize to System Tray when the program is closed
                Your preference
If you want quick access to the program put a checkmark in this box

                Execute at Windows Startup
                Your preference
If you want to run it at StartUp you should check this box - otherwise don't - it will make your Startup a bit faster.

Prompt to shut down your computer when Care job is done
                Your preference

                Notification:
                Show guide window
                Your preference
This guide window will give some information about the function you want to use, but unfortunately you will have to check it every time you close the program in order to get this information.
It ought to have been the other way round so that you could uncheck it when you were familiar with the functioning of the program.

Show balloon tips in System Tray
                Your preference

                Context menu:
Select items to be integrated into Windows Explorer
Select in the boxes below – pre-set all is checked
This function will add the chosen items to your right click menu.

                Next Registry fix
Here you can choose what you want to "clean" in the registry
                Your preference
                All points are pre-checked

                Enable deep scan
                Your preference
Function is adequately explained in the window

                Next Privacy sweep
                This function comes pre-set (Recommended)
If you want to add or exclude in the list then just put a checkmark where you want to add - or uncheck where you do not want it to be "cleaned" (deleted)
If you want to have the Run commands available, you have to exclude the cleaning of "Run" from the Sweeping options in Privacy sweep

                Next Junk files clean
                Window Recycle bin
You can put a checkmark here if you want to empty the recycle bin also
I wouldn't because I sometimes use the recycle bin as a temporary storage facility

                Windows Temporary files
This" cleans" your Windows temporary files
                Further settings below
                Additional:

Delete Windows temporary files older than 1 week

It provides baseline standards for the protection of classified information released or disclosed to industry in connection with classified contracts under the NISP.
                NISP (Networked Information Services Project)
                DOD (Department Of Defense)
                Your preference

                Next Automated Care
Mode: Choose the way to run Automated Care
Perform computer care at scheduled time
Choose this setting if you have activated the schedule

Perform computer care when system is idle (recommended)
If you have chosen the program to Startup with Windows – this is the logical choice

                Disable automatic Care
If you want full control and want to run the program manually you should choose this option

                Action (for scheduled mode only)
Can only be chosen if you have selected "Perform computer care at scheduled time"
If you haven't the below options will be faded

                Repair for:
Here you can choose what you want "cleaned" in the automated care

                Diagnose System Scan
Here you can choose to run the function Always, Once a week or Never

                Schedule:
Here you can configure your chosen schedule (click the button)
(this function seems to need some updating)

                Automated Sweep:
Automatically sweep privacy when you are logging on or off computer
                Your preference

Use the same settings as "Privacy Sweep"
                This is the logical choice

                Diagnose System:

Is only activated if Perform updating at a scheduled time is selected

                BackUp:
Here you can choose which modules you want to back up - and specify how many backups you want to store ( between 5 and 100) pre-set 20

In addition you can choose to create a restore point every day
This you have to actively choose if that is your preference

                Ignore List:
All you have chosen to ignore is placed in the ignore list, and you are able to see the items under the relevant tabs. You are even able to delete them, which will mean that they will be found by Diagnose Scan the next time you run it and you can either then ignore them again, "repair" (clean) them or uncheck them in the "Problems" window during the scan – before "Repair".
If you have no problem – leave them in the Ignore List

                User Interface:
                This is self explanatory
Transparency and brightness can be configured by the slide, or by clicking the button "Recommended"

                  ASC Utilities

                  Utilities
ASC provides some extra tools to assist you in repairing, optimizing and cleaning. (The one in (parentheses) may exist in older versions)
They are shown under the button Utilities and under three tabs
"Tune Up", "Security" and "Admin Tools"

                  Tune Up:
                  Disk Cleaner
Here you can select which volume to check
It will show you 5 categories, mark one and click on details in order to go through them and decide if there is any that you do not need or that you want to move to another location by right clicking on the file and choose "go to folder" find the file snip it and place it in the location you prefer (for example a folder you call old files). Be prudent!
Deleted files will be sent to Backup or to the recycle bin from where you can restore them as long as you do not empty the recycle bin.

                  Driver Update
Driver update will present you with available drivers for your applications
This is fine as it gives you the location where you can download it from
But be careful and check first. Some of the drivers may also be so new that they haven't been validated by Micosoft yet, which means that they often won't be installed - find and update that which has been validated even if it isn't the brand new one, at least that is my recommandation.

                  FireFoxTCP Optimizer
For examples of TCP Optimization please read this thread and this thread
                  Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
Some settings in this application isn't easy for non-technical users to understand, but follow the excellent advice of enoskype in the links he provides.

                  SmartDefrag
This applications sends you to the program SmartDefrag, - if you have it installed.
Read about SmartDefrag in another post in this thread!

                  IObit Registry Defrag
This application will defrag your registry database.
                  Adequately explained in the window.
Close all running applications prior to running this function - also your anti-virus application.
(The screen will darken while this is going on - wait - have patience and do not mess with the process)

                  Shortcut Fixer
This application will find obsolete shortcuts from for example uninstalled files and programs, or from moved programs.
In short - shortcuts from any file or program that hasn't a "parent" anymore
(Instead of deleting them you might repair the shortcuts one by one)

                  SmartRAM
                  Adequately explained in the window.
Click Settings to choose how you want to run the application.
Remember that if you have chosen to let it run automatically, it will be in your systemtray and can interfere with uninstallation if it isn't exited
It will continually show you the current memory status unless you have chosen not to have it in your systemtray. (You may have to make it's properties "Always shown")
(this is done by right clicking on the Start button and choosing properties and the tab Taskbar and then Customized)

                  Submit New
It sends you to this site: http://www.iobit.com/newtools.html
Where you can read what it is about
Mainly working together with other companies that have something to offer for free.

                  (Software Informer)
You can find details in: http://software.informer.com/ .

                  Security:
                  Driver BackUp
This utility backs up the drivers you choose
Just put a checkmark to all or the ones you choose

                  IE Security Assistant
Here you can remove items in "IE Extentions", "IE add-in"
(In some of the sub-menues you can also view the Properties)

Under the Option "IE Settings" (this shows possible hi-jacked settings) you can restore the settings to Default by clicking that button.

                  Admin Tools:
                  Auto ShutDown
Here you can choose to either Auto ShutDown your computer or to Restart your computer at a scheduled time.
Just choose one of the options and configure the schedule.
(If you want/need to use this function)

                  Context Menu Manager
This utility allows you to delete item(s) in your right click menu.
There are 3 tabs - in "Shell extention" tab you can even be sent to The Registry Database and edit the key (this should only be done by those that know what they are doing)

Under the tab "New" it shows you the menu under the command New in your right click menu - and the option to remove a command you do not think you need.

Under the tab "Send To" you have the option of removing a right click command option from the list.
(Would have been nice if there also were an opportunity to be sent to the folder where you could add a right click command to your option in the right click menu)
%userprofile%\sendtoIt sends you to the folder SendTo where you click on Files/New and then navigate to the file you want to add a shortcut for in your right click.

                  Disk Explorer
This application allows you to view and sort through the files on your computer.
                  They are sorted as follows
                  File types
                  Video files
                  Music files
                  Image files
                  Document files
                  Rubbish files
                  Other files (miscellaneous)
You can view them by clicking the appropriate button
(And take the action you find prudent according to your wishes)

                  Top 100
Which shows you the largest 100 files on your computer
Basicly it can be used to determine which uninstallation would give you back the most free space.
But do not - I say NOT - delete files out of hand. Several of them are needed for the Operating System to work.

                  Clone files
This application finds files that have the same name and size on your computer (duplicates) and you can then decide if you need them or not.
                  But be very, very careful!

Cloned Files Finder (now to be found in Additional Utilities)

                  Restore center
The restore center shows you the latest 20 restore point for ASC Care operation - if you go by default settings - in the right hand of the window, and you can choose to go back to the latest restore date if something untoward has happened.
In the left side it gives you the opportunity to

                  Create a restore point
                  - which will then be shown in the Windows System Restore facility.

                  View System Restore
                  - which will send you to the dialog page in Windows System Restore facility

                  Settings
                  - which will send you to the setting for ASC

                  Software UnInstaller
This application sends you to Software UnInstaller in Windows manager
The same as you will get if you go through Control Panel/Add-Remove programs.
This uninstaller often leaves "leftovers" behind (i.e. the program folder)
A free application that can be used to uninstall and clean up could be "Revo UnInstaller".

                  StartUp Manager
Many times when you install new programs, they are set up to run silently in the background from the system tray. Some of these need to run (ex: anti virus, firewall, ect.) but many do not and can be started when needed from desktop icon. If you have too many programs running all the time it can slow down computer. In startup manager, you can uncheck the boxes of the ones you do not want to run at startup (Do not delete the entries unless they are old ones you no longer have.). If you uncheck one and discover that you really do need it to run, you can go back and re-check the entry to allow at startup. If you are not sure, you can select an entry, then click “online search” to go to sysinfo.org for clues about that entry.

                  System Information
This application gives you the fundamental basic information about you computer.
This can be exported to a .txt file or to a .html file which you can attach to a message for investigation purposes - should the need arise.
Click on "File" in menu line and choose either .txt or .html

                  Windows Manager
In Windows Manager you have the possibility to view "Process Manager", "System Service", "TCP/UDP" (Transmission Control Protocol/User Datagram Protocol), "Software UnInstaller" and "Cookie Manager"

                  -(WM)Process Manager
Here you can either refresh or terminate a process
(You get more options by using the Job list (Taskmanager) or Ctrl+Alt+Delete)
                  Taskmanager (taskmgr in Run)

                  -(WM)System Service
Here you get an easy overview of what services you have running.
You can right click on the items choose Properties and in the window then choose either Automatic, Manual or Deactivated
You can also refresh each setting
(Several recommandations exists - you could choose to go with the recommended Microsoft OS (Operating System) settings, - all can be found on the internet)

-(WM)TCP/UDP (Transmission Control Protocol/User Datagram Protocol)
Here you can view which protocol is running, its address and its status

                  -(WM)Software UnInstaller
Easy overview of programs you have on your computer that can be uninstalled (shows you the program version too) basicly the same as Add/Remove Programs in Control panel.

                  -(WM)Cookies manager
Here you can view your cookies and delete/exclude/refresh some or all of them by putting/removing a checkmark in the box
%userprofile%\cookies in Run to view the cookie folder

                    Disk Check (chkdsk)
                    -------------------
This application will scan your volume for errors, a short description is shown when you click the icon.
It does the same as the command chkdsk does if written in Run
or the same as you get if you right click C:/Properties/the tab Function and click the button Check Now and the button Start - without a checkmark in any boxes.

The command chkdsk /f in Run or chkdsk C: /f will check the C: volume for errors after a restart. (the disk name chkdsk C: may be changed to the disk you want to check)
(same as if you checkmark the top box in C:/Properties/the tab Function - disk control)

chkdsk /r or chkdsk C: /r in Run will check the same as the switch /f + that it will check the free space for errors too.
(same as if you checkmark both boxes in C:/Properties/the tab Function-disk control)

Chkdsk in Windows can repair problems related to bad sectors, lost clusters, cross-linked files, and directory errors.
It will also recover files from the bad sector if there is any and flag the bad sector as not to be used.
You can find out what is done by chkdsk going to Event Viewer. Here is the link, describing how you can go there. Thanks to garybear for the images!

                    /enable
Enables WFP for normal operation. (Windows File Protection)
                    /purgecache
Purges the file cache and scans all protected system files immediately.
                    /cachesize=x
Sets the file cache size, in megabytes.
                    /quiet
Replaces incorrect file versions without prompting the user.

                    Cloned Files Finder
                    --------------------
Cloned Files Finder starts with a guide where you can select which volume(s) to check.
You just click "Next", and in the next window select what kind of check you want to perform and if you want a size limit.

You can also exclude file types you do not want to check by placing a checkmark or not in the appropriate check box.
When you click "Next" here it will perform the check and show you the cloned/duplicate files it found. You then have to check very carefully if any of the cloned/duplicate files are needed before deleting them.

They will go to the Recycle bin and can be restored from there as long as you do not clean it - either yourself or by a scan - or by an automatic cleaning that haven't excluded the Recycle bin from the cleaning/sweep.

Please pay heed to the warnings that are shown in the application!!

                      Not quite as easy!

This is a medium sized job!!

Currently Advanced System Care v.5 has 4695 (v.5. beta 2.1) English words that have to be translated into your own language if you want to add your native language to the list..

                      Quite easy job!

Only translate the words to the right of =
And then send the translated language file to IObit

                      support@iobit.com , feedback@iobit.com

I find using Excel the easiest, I copy the content of the English language file and open Excel: click on A1 and then ctrl+v, then click on F1 and ctrl+v
Then I translate the English words after = into my native language in the F column, using the A column as reference.
(when finished I save a copy in Unicode format of the translated file in Notepad)

After you have translated the file you place it in the language folder in the program (rename the "native language".txt → "native language".lng)
and check it by running the program. Some translations might not fit in the available space and you will have to find another word/description - possibly an abbreviation to make it fit the allotted space.
(After this you can send it!)

If you use notepad for translation, there is a verification tool by Tim Xue in this post.
You can downlod it from: www.iobit.com/files/beta/LanChecker.exe
Choose the English.lng for the left pane and your Nativelanguage.lng for the right pane and click compare.

New language tool is in Language Checking Tool thread.

Screenshots and Attachments in the Forum

                        Screenshots
A picture can say more than many words, therefore there is often a request for providing a screenshot.
On your keyboard there is a key called PrintScreen often abbreviated to "Prt Scr". When you press this key it will "take a picture" of what is seen on your screen (desktop), If you hold down the Alt key while pressing the "Prt Scr" a picture of the window on top (activated window) of the screen is copied.
This you can save in for example your picture folder or your desktop.
The default picture folder is usually located in Documents/Pictures
If you need to convert the picture into .jpg you can do this in Paint usually located in Start/Accessories/Paint by opening the picture there and then saving it as a .jpg picture or perhaps a .png picture.
(the reason I mention these two extensions (formats) is that they enable you to attach the largest (KB-wise) pictures in the post)
For other (large) files it is advisable to send them as zipped files

                        This brings us to

                        Attachments
There is also often a request for providing more information in the form of an attachment.
When you are creating/answering a post you might want to provide your readers with a screenshot or some other file.
This is done by going below the writing window to Additional Options and under "Attachments" click on the button "Manage Attachments", - this brings you to a dialog window where you can "Upload a file from your computer" - you then find the file in question on your computer and Upload it. It will then become an attachment in your post.
Please make sure that the file to be attached is not larger in size than shown in the dialog window.

P.s. If you want to have the attachment shown as a picture directly in the post, you will have to first open the attachment in your post (after your first save) and then copy the address in the address line. Then you will have to Edit your post and in an appropriate place click on Insert picture - in the box that comes up you then insert the address you copied previously.

If you want to remove your Attachment (ZIP or Image etc):

                        • Click Edit at the bottom of your post
                        • Click Go Advanced
                        • Scroll down and click Manage Attachments
                        • Under the heading Current attachments you will see your Attachment
                        • Click Remove (on the right)
                        • When removed click Close this window

                        p.s.
If you want to attach a screenshot and this screenshot contains much text the considerate way to do this is to change the interface language to English before taking the screenshot in order for the majority of other members to be able to read it.
It is mostly in instances with much text that this would be really helpful.
Please also make sure that the screenshot is sharp enough to read and if possible make it able to show magnification.
                        Thank you!!

The settings in your computer will show up in System Optimization as "problems" if your own settings differ from IObit settings and you will have to place the "problem" in the "Ignore List" if you want to keep your own settings.

This can sometimes restore settings that the System Optimize has changed, but you will then have to place that "problem" in the Ignore List the next time you run System Optimize.
There are further possibilities in that window if you want to experiment a bit.

                            Search in the Forum

Search in the forum can assist you in finding articles useful to yourself in a faster and easier manner than searching through the whole forum.
It is done by clicking the menu point Search
In the line below there is a search option that lets you search in the all of the 4 forums you can be in.
(It would have been nice if it was possible to search for more than one word here too - to narrow down the possible posts)

This however is possible in Advanced Search!

The search word has to be at least 4 characters long
You can either search for threads or posts!
If you do not find anything relating to your wish - try another word for the same.
Or try the advanced search option!
In the advanced search do not use words with less than 4 characters -
fx. "Usage of IObit Products" should be written "Usage IObit Products"

You can find almost anything on the computer from run by writing c or c: or c:\ or %systemroot% or %userprofile% and then chosing from the drop down menu.

If WordPad doesn't open, you can place a copy of the file (WordPad.exe) in system32, then it does.

Opening Properties for Taskbar and Start Menu is done by right clicking the Start button and choosing Properties

Several of the commands are discussed in more detail elsewhere in this thread

If you want to have the Run commands available, you have to exclude the cleaning of Run history from the Sweeping options in ASC

If Run isn't shown in your Start Menu - right click Start and choose Properties - under the tab Start Menu click the button Options and place a tick in the Run option.

                              Tasklist "Print"
There is a command in command prompt using tasklist, but it does not work in XP Home.
                              C:\Documents and Settings\"User Name">tasklist > "%userprofile%\desktop\t.txt"
that will generate a file on your desktop to copy the content from and insert in your forum post or simply attach the file to the post. It works in XP Pro though - do not know about later versions, you will have to try yourselves.
I think it is possible to use tasklist /v also instead of just tasklist
                              /v stands for verbose.

Generating a list of content by using the Command prompt
For example: If you need to see or send a list of the content in your Program folder/directory you can use the command prompt to generate it.
                              dir /b "C:\Programs" > "Desktop\Programs.txt"
                              or
                              dir /b/p "C:\Programs\IObit\Advanced SystemCare 5" > "Desktop\h.txt"

Copy the above string - open your command prompt - right click in the window and paste the copy - hit enter.
Then you will have that text file sitting on your desktop waiting for what you want to do with it.
You can exchange programs with fx. Documents" or Documents\Pictures" if these are the ones you want to generate a list for.

You can generate a list of Ports on your computer by writing netstat -a (notice space before -a) in your command prompt
