registry defrag

well, all days if i check my PC with asc, it says registry is defraged. Ok i fix it .

But i heard often that fix to often can destroy the registry. and NOT to defrag will nothing happen.

 

Whats right: a) defrag always or b) Never defrag if its fragemted?

There has been a lot of discussion on the forum regarding this matter. The concensus seems to be that regulary defragging the registry is unnecessary and provides little gain due to its small size. It is sufficient to defrag the registry a few times a year depending on your usage and the size of your registry.
