just run chkdsk in vista after a bad crash had 30 errors fixed.

 

if you want to view results after chkdsk without messing around in event viewer. this command will display the results on screen at the end of chkdsk.

 

This will create a chkdsk log.

 

Paste this into a command prompt...

 

CHKDSK C: /F > C:\CHKDISKLOG.TXT

 

Hit your Enter key.

 

Click YES on the popup to reboot.

 

After CHKDSK has run paste this in Start | Run...

 

C:\CHKDISKLOG.TXT

 

Click OK.

I didn't run chkdsk after the command.Your wording led me to believe there would be a call for a re-boot after that string was entered.

Start -> Run -> Cmd -> Enter

 

Then enter the string.

What did I F up?

 

OK,I went with START >RUN > CMD >ENTER-The window opens,I paste in the string and hit Enter again,only to get the flashing cursor on the next line.How long does one wait after the enter of the string?Or should this be immediate?

It'll take as long as it normally takes chkdsk to run. When finished you'll have the file CHKDISKLOG.TXT on the root directory of C:.
