Yes, now it's called 'Windows Security Essentials', in W-7, and it is Great.

I think Defender was introduced with Windows-2000, but latest version No longer supports 2000.

SE replaced both Defender and Live-OneCare in about Oct. of '09, I think. But Defender is still available.

SE does not seem to screen minor things like Cookies and ADware, but it is Updated regularly and does a good job of catching Viruses, Trojans, Spyware, etc.

I run a second Security program to monitor Cookies and ADware.

I could have sworn it was 'Microsoft Security Essentials'.

Yes, you are correct.

I had not had my Coffee yet, this morning, when I typed that.

I normally just call it S E, anyway.

Hey, you knew what I meant.

Thanks,

here what I have and still updates and working on my version of win7

the one you are talking about must be a install extra from MS?

That right.

I will Not be Changing This any how,and keep the one I have .

as a extra.

Using Iobit is plenty for me .and there are,~ is No conflicting with the defender.

SE includes FireWall and Network-monitoring that original Defender did not have included.

SE came on DVDs with W-7-Pro-64bit, that I have.

I don't think it's included on non-pro version but can also be downloaded from MS.

First of Thanks for your time and response,Being soft ware trier type

I had a good look at this application, after reading up on this, realized its been posted and talked about by members a while back, and re-reading .the penny dropped.

The reason I did not Install IT At the time,I dislike and distrust MS .

no further comment....

so we downloaded it,backed up the system.then proceeded to install it.

Mind you reluctantly,Not being a fan of MS any thing.

ok we then rebooted turning on the modem, and let it Update its definitions, then scan the system

Now let me say this,(I hate Virus programs) but ok lets give this a go ,watching it works away this did Impress me,and giving one options to rid what thy Ms consider a threat, disinfecting and then advising what to remove and why?

some I had a giggle over but on the whole this is very good!

and gives one in site as to malicious apps or installs.

and thank you again ,I shall leave it as is for a while to see If I like it.

But I think, and say this not knowing looks better then defender.?

Is it worth the trouble to download and install, Yes .After all it free

and No nags.

And for the New User Of a pc .Do it,will not harm you.but just take it easy on what you get rid of.

back up your system first ,and then go ahead.
