Shredder Hangs!

I have been using the shredder a lot however sometimes it freezes & the only way to clear it is to press Ctrl+Alt+Del.

 

Has anyone else had this & if so is there a remedy.

Hi PapaG

Do you have any information as to what kind of files hangs?

Do you wait long enough before doing the ctrl+alt+delete?

Do you use the "secure deletion"? (DOD) (Department Of Defense)

It will take some more time - depending on the size of the file.

Are you sure that the files you want to shred are unlocked?

Hi Solbjerg,

Sorry next time it happens I will try to find out what type of file is causing the problem.

On occasions I have left it for 15 mins before hitting ctrl+alt+del.

I use "secure deletion" & I have no locked files.

Hi Solbjerg,

 

It would not deal with a 1.88kb Shortcut.

 

The top line was at 100% while the bottom line hung at 50%.

 

Non of the program button stop/close/cancel would work so it had to be closed down using ctrl+alt+delete.

 

Emptying the Recycle bin without trying to shred the contents of it worked just fine.
