Smart Defrag v8.0 blocked by AVAST antivirus software

Greetings...

When I attempt to install Smart Defrag v8.0 on my laptops, my AVAST antivirus software stops the installation process with the following Threat Block alert message:

"We've blocked smart-defrag-setup.tmp because it was infected with IDP.Generic."

Attached below is a screen capture of the Threat Blocked alert message. Please advise if this threat is real or a false alarm. Thank you!

I had same problem when I downloaded from MajorGeeks - https://www.majorgeeks.com/mg/getmirror/iobit_smartdefrag,1.html

the download listed on my Firefox as "smart-defrag-setup".  Clicking on this only opened my downloads folder.

When I followed your suggested link, and downloaded from iobit.com - https://cdn.iobit.com/dl/smart-defrag-setup.exe

it appeared on Firefox downloads as "smart-defrag-setup.exe"  Clicking on this opened SmartDefrag Installer - success, thankyou!

I'm no geek - did my installed AVG remove the .exe to block it; or is there a fault on MajorGeeks?

I had Norton remove Smart Defrag Pro on two different machines, one Windows 10 and one Windows 11.   The version downloaded from the cdn.iobit server seems to have held for now.   Another interesting discovery, I downloaded the app and installed it successfully on the Windows 10 machine.   When I simply moved it to the Windows 11 machine on a stick, Norton detected it and deleted it after it was installed.   When I downloaded from the cdn.iobit server directly Norton scanned and approved it.

Hey Cicely,

I have have the same issue with the new version of Smart Defrag.  Webroot rejects the .exe due to a potential virus/malware it does not like. This happened on the MajorGeeks download AND on your suggested provided link as follows: https://cdn.iobit.com/dl/smart-defrag-setup.exe.

Webroot detects the issue, then removes the .exe.

Please fix.

Thank you,
Ryan
