I don't think so but yes would be nice if there was.

as I, want to play around with this OS (LINUX) and looking around cant find any IOBIT products that run on Linux.

 

 

I know its a silly ask but Asc and 360 for Linux would be a terrific thing.

I wonder if iobit would? make this A possibility.

LINUX.only cost a download.

that is a start.as to why I am very interested in the OS.And setting Up a system Just for this,to monkey about with.

 

nothing else.and happen to see this post made, and just thinking it would be nice.

perhaps a good reason as well?

and perhaps some of there other applications.

just a idea,and why not.lots of people use Linux and its offshoot versions.

I think you are missing the point, we are not talking Linux ~V~ MS, the thread was started, as a suggestion. The idea, that iobit could if interested make there products work with Linux.

The Linux World is rarely dull,users That Use openSUSE and Ubuntu and red hat,Puppy.to name a few.

 

Ubuntu founder Shuttle worth Announced, that Ubuntu may switch from the six-month release cycle to daily updates.

 

Ubuntu New release 10.10 have a look at it.you may even want to try it out.

 

Linux,Outdated ????, OK if you say so.

any how like I said Its not a debate on LINUX.or there variants.

It's hard to tell exactly how many people use it as their desktop OS, as it's free for download and you can use it on as many computers as you want. Still, recent estimates put the number at around 65 million (that's more than the population of the UK!).

 

Also, we shouldn't forget that most servers use Linux. So Facebook runs on Linux servers. As does Youtube. And Google. The list goes on.

 

Considering this, we can update our statistic to 1,802 million

 

so its not obsolete as you may think

Now that I think about it, other OSs like Linux are really a 'Good thing'.

We all know that Microsoft Needs More Compitition to keep them awake and alart.

I wish the Linux guys 'The Best of Luck' in keeping Free software alive and well :grin:

 

BTW- We use 'SmarterMail7' for our email server, which is Windows compatible and is also free.

That's the only server we have presently except for FTP, which is free software also.

So there's plenty of Good free Server software for Windows Also.

Many people use Linux simply because they like to try new things, and what is newer than a whole new operating system. Other people like freedom to do what they want with their computer. This works for them because Linux can be molded and made into whatever you want. The Linux kernel and most of the operating systems that use it are free to use and free to modify.

 

In many ways some people consider it superior to windows?

But that is a matter of opinion. As with any operating system, the amazing thing about Linux is that it is always changing and adapting so that there is something for everyone.

 

There are several reasons why many people might still use Windows when other operating systems (such as Linux) are available:

 

* They haven't heard about anything else

* They think Linux is too difficult to use

* They don't understand partitioning, dual-booting, or virtual machines and may be afraid of losing data if they 'stuff something up.'

* Programs they rely upon aren't written for Linux, and can't be made to run suitably with Wine or in a virtual machine.

* Their current hardware is not fully supported, and purchasing an upgrade or replacement would cost them money.

 

Bu I gad you see the light, and why I think its not a bad idea for Iobit to consider.

Once a disk is this full there's not enough space left in order to be able to defrag it in any meaningful amount of time (try defrag'ing a 95% full FAT disk sometime to get an idea of what I mean)

 

A default ext2/ext3 linux filesystem actually reserves (IIRC) 5% of the disk for system use in order to avoid this issue (and for other purposes), so the issue of wanting to actually defrag a disk nearly never occurs in practise.

 

There did used to be tools to perform defrag, but no-one ever really used them, and since they could trash the disk on power failure they were considered unsafe.

Linux,AIX,Unix vs MS OS

 

I've spent the majority of my life in and around BIG BLUE. And the simply fact of why there is a NEED for the **ix OS is MS OS's have more holes in it than a really good swiss cheese:evil:. IMHpO here are some of the top reasons that one chooses their respective OS.

Linux (open SOURCE) AIX(IBM $$$) Unix (Sun/att belllabs and 50 others fighting over it) though each of them have the following advantages:

Vastly smaller operating system (less CPU and memory load bit for bit throughput)

Vastly "tighter" programming code. much less GUI code, much less stitching together of subroutines produced in 3rd word bit factories. (X=X generally through out the day as opposed to MS OS where you X=a, e, i, o, u and sometimes Y, plus 48 DLL's, 1024 Arrays loaded, a GUI interface to point to the output.

Less Virus attacks and more easily defended against them. Less Holes to perforate, Less holes to cover.

 

Now for the Windows world,

MS OS easily loaded, easily run (notice I said easily, not efficiently) massive amounts of software and <AHEM>support given to USERS (well at least whatever the tech is rereading to the end user from the knowledge base which is probably loaded on their Linux server) Easily dispersed to many users who have no knowledge of Linux and have Windows on their home systems

 

and the top 3 reasons

 

you can connect your iPod/Pad/Phone

you can play HALO

 

 

you can view PORN

 

 

(which is still approximately 75% of all web traffic)

No you are not being mean, just clearly ignorant and hardly an "expert"

 

Yes Win 7 64 is a very good OS but linux is certainly no antique, or no more so than OSX or Windows.

 

You should know that the origins of the parts of most OS' go back a long way. If you want a truly new OS then you are clearly looking in the wrong direction.

 

Any by the way, in case you are wondering I do use professionally BOTH Windows 7 and linux desktops and speak from experience.

Dear Mr Bean.the linux works on a filesystem that does not require defrag.therefore iobit and others do not need to produce a tool.this is another good reason for using linux which is a more advanced OS than windows,so do not believe the other guy on this thread who still plays with an ancient windows OS.i hope you can read this post as easily as i could read your posts :-D

Jeez. You should read up more about the difference between open source and free.

 

Linux is open source. Many companies devote a lot of time and money to the linux projects and other open source software, but many of them sell their open source softwares and services. Take a look at Red Hat and Novell / Suse for example, there are thousands of others.

 

Yes most linux distributions are available free of charge as far as the license is concerned, but this is an entirely seperate matter and nothing to do whatesover with freeloaders and freetards other than these free guys get a free ride of any free software they use such as iobit and countless thousands of other windows apps, not specifically linux, so how come that you are not slating iobit free users and leading by example?

 

You are clearly trying to smear linux deliberately, or through ignorance.

Linux for me is just a fun OS .whether people agree or not I have now at last work out how to run them side by side,and loving it.my asked as I know very little about Linux type Operation systems,was innocent.and not meant to stir up any one.

and yes its a nice Os to use easy than I first was thinking.

and learning very fast.

as I said.

my ask was totally innocent, but now understand why ?
