SysExplorer report help

ZmanZ

Recommended Posts

Hi ZmanZ! Welcome to Iobit forum!

This is the correct place for questions concerning a SysExplorer report.

I think that what Toppack was asking was to please describe the problem or help you wish to remedy, associated with your SysExplorer report!;-)

Sincerely,

-Mel

Live long and Prosper!

This is a new computer, with not much on it, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 12 GB RAM.

It crashes to blue screen periodically and the error is "memory management".

Also, some programs will stop working properly or not work at all. And when I try to open a program from the taskbar, the icon will highlight, like it should, and then unhighlight and not launch the program.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling some of the programs. I have tried resetting to a restore point far enough back not to lose anything important but still be far enough back to before the problems (I think).

It sounds like some bad memory on your system. If you are Not Over-clocking the memory, You should test the RAM on your system:

(If you are over-clocking, Don't!)

First try 'Memory Diagnostics Tool'

See link:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/715-memory-diagnostics-tool.html

Note: the 'Memory Diagnostics Tool' icon is not always in 'Administrative Tools',

so you can use 2nd method (using mdsched) instead, It always works.

With 12GB, it will take a long time to complete the testing, so wait for it.

If it finds errors, try removing 1 of the ram-sticks (leaving 8.GB, which is more than enough)

(I would try removing the one in Bank-4 first)

then try it again, keep trying with only 2 modules until you locate the bad stick.

This will help when trying to determine if it is memory problem.

I've seen a defective Motherboard cause same problem. I hope it's not that.

Hope this helps.

BTW - Admins may want to move this thread to General-forums section ?

I ran the memory diagnostics tool and it said no problems found.

Another thing my computer is doing that I forgot to mention before is when I push the button to turn it on, it turns on, the fans start up, the leds come on, then everything shuts off. In about 2 seconds, it turns on again and 3-4 seconds later it turns off again. Then about 2 seconds later it comes on again and starts up like it should. It boots up on the third try and starts normally. I have never had a computer do this before but this one has been doing this for a few days. Anyone know why?

If you open the cabinet will you void the warranty? I am suggesting that you may need to insure every thing is properly seated in its slot.

Also... is there any over clocking? And who is the manufacturer?

Also... please check the hard drive for errors: Open the "Computer" window, and right click your hard drive, then choose the tools tab (I am not that familiar with Win 7... so you may have to choose properties first), then click the error check option. This executes chkdisk.

That is Strange!

It could the Power-Supply?

Do you know what the Wattage rating of the PSU is?

I think I would try replacing the PSU first, just to make sure it does not have an intermittent problem, since it can cause all those problems.

If you have a good analog type voltmeter you could monitor the 5V and 12v voltages at a 4-pin Molex connector,

but if the voltage levels are droping for a very short time you may not even see the drop on a digital type meter.

Thanks. To replace the power supply I guess I would probably have to send it back and have them do it. I was hoping to avoid this just because of the down time. Might have to though.

Yes, I really think it is a hardware problem.

It could be something as simple as a loose connection or bad cable but someone will need to open it up and do some troubleshooting to determine where the problem is.

Hi ZmanZ!

It could indeed be a faulty powersupply as Toppack suggests! Be sure that you don't void your warranty! It could also even be a faulty (remote possibility) CMOS battery on the motherboard. It could also be mismatched memory sticks. It could also be that something is not seated properly in its slot, and a few more. To rule out some of these things you would have to open the cabinet... but that may void the warranty!

So please determine if you can open the cabinet or not... meanwhile examine the problem through the aspect of software. Run the simple chkdisk.

Also... once the machine is up and running does it seem noisy in some way (or completely silent)... and do you notice some slowness in the execution of some programs (other than the icon issue)?

You can use the Windows 7 disk that came with you system also to execute a repair of Windows (the Icon issue), If you want to rule out compromised system commands.

I too am leaning toward a hardware problem! If it were me I would run the chkdisk and windows repair from disc. If there is no relief there then I would just save my data/files and return the machine.

Sincerely,

-Mel

Hi ZmanZ the cables and connections Toppack referred to are all inside your cabinet, not the simple power and user connectivity cables outside your cabinet.

Q. Just so you know: your machine should have been delivered with licensed Windows discs. Do you have them? If you don't then you must question the manufacturer as to why you don't have them and ask for them. There should be a microsoft label on the outside of the case... is it there?

Sincerely,

-Mel

It runs silent

You should at least be able to hear or feel the fans running... It should not be silent..

Return the machine... remove all your personal files before returning. Clean all the temp files before your final shutdown. Save your data!

By their promise they will pay for it.

Sincerely,

-Mel

Windows Search

Hi ZmanZ,

The first error that occurs,(listed), is windows search, in W7 you can turn this feature on/off.

control panel>programs>programs and features> turn windows features on/off>windows search --- untick.

Reboot

repeat the above but tick windows search

Reboot

might help

regarding the SSID 1-18 error that is something to do with permissions, and i suspect that your windows updates is Not updating it is trying to thou. dont go to much into the registry but this was a common problem in XP and an ex MS employee wrote a suite of programmes within a utility cant remembers its name, to fix it. but if you google that no: you will find lots of theses permission related problems

PS you have no Background Intelligent Transfer service listed = NO UPDATES
