IObit SysExplorer Logfile - Help!!! Free Beer!!! :)

sr20bet

Recommended Posts

My WinXP SP3 on a Dell GX270 boots up and then freezes after 4-6 minutes of use.

I've run AdwCleaner, TDSSKiller and ESET OnlineScan. They all came back without any problems.

When I shut down some processes, windows xp can keep running. Just trying to identify what needs to be done in order to get the system running properly.

I'm a novice and any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. If you are in SF or Toronto I'll even buy you a beer! :)

Excuse me in advance if my noobness is coming thru.

Hi sr20bet... welcome to the Iobit forums!

Please run this free software and then re-boot. This is a link to TFC by old timer. Please make sure you have recorded your passwords.

Please elaborate on this:

When I shut down some processes, windows xp can keep running.

What processes did you shut down??

Sincerely,

-Mel

Hi sr20bet

Welcome to the forum. Your diagnostic report does not show any problems. There is a minor search facility error and a samsung driver error, but they are not an issue and can be ignored.

You have very small amount of memory available, and this will cause your machine to run slower if you are doinf multiple tasks. You also have FireFox which suffers from memory leak, so if you leave your browser on all the time it will eat up memory. You should close FF every few hours just to clear the memory, especially if you have multiple windows open.

Now you should do a system clean/optimisation to see if we can solve the problem.

Firstly open ASC. Go to settings/RegistryFix and disable (Untick) Deep Clean.

Now open ASC Rescue Centre and create a restore point.

Now, in the main window (GUI) of ASC, select Care and Expert Mode.

Now select the items which are shown in the attached printscreen,...run the Scan and Repair all items which are found.

When that is completed, close all other applications and do a Disc Defragment.

Let us know if this solves the issue.

Nifty little app called Firemin, which is a big help when you are running into memory issues while running Firefox. Firemin uses a safe API function called EmptyWorkingSet that basically forces the process (in this case Firemin) to use less memory. Other words, tells Firefox to give back some of the system memory it's hanging on to.

Screen shots show Firefox in task manager before and after Firemin.

Hi, hope you and yours are well AT...!

I'm not getting it. Looked at screenshots, 0% usage before, 1% after...

The 1% was the after (running and attributable to this Firemin)

I don't see the gain. You have a lean machine so perhaps you should take the shots when you have FF loaded?

Perhaps I am missing something?

Sincerely,

-Mel

Hi Melvin,

Thanks for the kind words, everybody here doing well, just trying to stay warm. Sorry for the confusion, guess I should have highlighted the section that was pertinent. Look under memory for Firefox.exe and see 230852k without Firemin and 5492k with Firemin running. Both taken with the same browser session, just enabled Firemin for the second shot. Hope this helps.

Welcome

Welcome to the forum sr20bet

I also suggest using FireFox extension FlashBlock

This will block all flash but you can add sites to the whitelist so flash will always be shown on that site or just un-block the flash for that one time to watch an embedded video or whatever

Using FlashBlock will stop the FireFox plug-in container.exe from getting bigger every time you visit a site with flash that you are not interested in seeing anyway

All the best, woz of oz
