Hi Cakefish

Please provide a screenshot of your junk file settings.

Both quick care and deep care cause a BSOD. Specifically when the program is trying to remove the 'junk files'. This started occuring around a month or two ago. How can I fix this?

Ok Cakefish

I have the same setting there. So that ought not to be the culprit.

Which version do you use?

Have you installed your current version over the top?

If so please try to do a Clean Install (link to description in my signature)

It says that it is 4.0.1. It's set to automatically update by itself.

I'll try the clean install and report back. Thanks.

hi Cakefish

I took a look at my ntoskrnl - this is version 5.1xxx and 32 bit'

The folder in Windows said that it was from 2001, but there were several updates amongst all these updates dec. 2010 and feb. 2011 as the latest.

As you have a much newer computer and a 64 bit setup I will bow out gracefully and leave you in some hopefully more capable hands :-)

Good idea Toppack

@ Cakefish

I would even suggest chkdsk /r

which does the same as f + that it checks the empty space

Takes a while though!

This also made me think about sfc /scannow - this procedure needs to be able to access the install file or the install disk though.

A pop-up will probably tell you that unless the OS already has a link to the install file registered in the computer.

Have you tried running the Windows Command-line utility called:

chkdsk /f

(which repairs errors on hard-drive)

Hi cakefish,

This is Cicely from IObit support team.

Sorry to hear this trouble.

Please go to C:\Windows to see whether there is the folder Minidump. If yes, please send us this folder so that we can forward this to our developers for clear investigation.

BSOD Also

At the end of a deep scan set with defaults I received the BSOD memory dump. Somehow this was associated with PDF files, when I would attempt to save or open pdf’s after the first dump; it would also do the BSOD. I used the boot disk to repair the system but it happened again. I was using Foxit for my PDF reader, but really think it was the deep registry scan. I have disabled that option and will not be using your scan in the future.
