Is there anyway to make windows 7 recognize this as an anti virus?

By "this" do you mean IMF?

IMF isn't an anti-virus program - when downloading it you are advised that you should run IMF along with an anti-virus program

Please note IObit Malware Fighter is an anti-malware program instead of anti-virus program, so it is recognized as the anti-malware program in the action center.

In W8 DP Action Center------Security and I would imagine it will also be in W8 RTM there are two separate lines one for Anti-Virus and one for Spyware.

 

IMF 1.2.0.16 shows up under Spyware. I know because I just looked on my netbook with W8 DP installed and it is there

JMO but from my experience with W8 DP so far I think W8 is a vast improvement over W7, which I happen to like a lot.:-):-)
