  1. Hi j² How about buying one harddisk more? How about getting some more RAM? With all that data on your machine there must be some of it you don't really need? A fast and easy way ro reclaim some space is to lower the amount of Windows System Restore Points. By default they are set to 12% of your disk and can easily be lowered to 5% or even 3%, this action may raise the available free space above the 15%. Just pull the slide to the desired percentage. Good luck Cheers solbjerg
  2. Hi j² The recommandation I have seen is to have a pagefile (swapfile - unix name) on each harddisk, but they warn solemnly against having one in partions of a harddisk (only one for the entire disk). Having the use of two swapfiles i.e. in both the primary drive and if it is possible also in another harddisk would in my opinion make retrieval of information slower. May I suggest more RAM instead. Cheers solbjerg
  3. Hi j² Right click My computer/Properties/Advanced/performance - button - settings/advanced/virtual memory and choose the swapfile size for all the drives you need. They even recommend that one has a swapfile on each drive. Cheers solbjerg
  4. hi sweidre The English language file is in the language folder in SD 2 beta :-) Perhaps Sarakael has translated it into German too if you would rather use that as your template :-) Apparently the beta 2 versions now usually contains the language file in English. I usually write what explains the meaning of the functions best in Danish if I find that the English text is unclear or even faulty. But the official template is the English language file. :-) Cheers solbjerg
  5. SD 2 Danish Here is the translated file for SD 2 in Danish. The Inno file will follow later :-) Cheers solbjerg Danish.lng Inno Danish.lng

  8. Hi Tarweb Are you saying that you have bought a computer with a Korean OS without being able to read Korean? Why??? You will need to go into the regional language settings in controlpanel to add the languages you want and you will need to download some MUI/LUI language packs if you want to change the whole interface into your preferred language. If it is just in ASC then click on Tools (the middle menu point in the menu line) and in the window that comes up click the bottom line and then view the next-lowest box to choose your preferred language. If you can find the IObit ASC folder in Explorer you can also change the .ini file to choose English at startup, I think. Cheers solbjerg
  9. Hi Toppack As far as I remember one had to put a mark in the box of the file one wanted to move in order to have the option to move it. Haven't used it for a long time. It can also be used to find the largest files, and one can then in Explorer drag them to another location as far as I remember, even to another disk I think. I haven't the time to experiment right now, so please try yourself :-) Cheers solbjerg
  10. Hi BocaDave Why not utilize that function in the additional tools in ASC for that purpose? My personal opinion is that a defrag program should handle defragmenting issues, otherwise all programs becomes bloated if they have to contain all functions within the same program. Cheers solbjerg
  11. Hi Toppack For me it is easy to estimate how long it is going to take by looking at the % of completion and the time used. The prior timing was in the most instances very imprecise, so I think this is better. For some reason it is difficult to time the time left accurately - we see that in several other programs too, - and as it apparently is like that I find it better just to know how long it usually takes. Cheers solbjerg
  12. Ok, but until we find out what has happened try right clicking the link, choose properties - it will then show the link correctly - copy it and insert it in the address line- could it somehow be the recent security updates from Microsoft? Cheers solbjerg
  13. OK Toppack Try this then :-) http://www.disktrix.com/ultimatedefrag_about.htm And when you are on that site scoll down to this: Choose Your Product Description Option... I Am Very Curious And Have All The Time In The World. Educate And Enlighten Me In Great Detail CLICK HERE Cheers solbjerg p.s. You could also try to edit the link in the post, mark it /click insert link/ copy the link - make sure it has the underscores/ insert it in the addressline in IE p.p.s. If you click edit to the post do you then see a button "go advanced" there you ought to be able to delink the link - this removes the underlining. http://www.disktrix.com/ultimatedefrag_about_long.htm here the underscores show through the underlining while in edit mode
  14. Hi Toppack No problem by me - it works fine here! Try again? http://www.disktrix.com/ultimatedefrag_about_long.htm Cheers solbjerg
  15. Hi enoskype Thank you again! I found this link to describe UD: http://www.disktrix.com/ultimatedefrag_about_long.htm Cheers solbjerg
  16. hi enoskype Thank you very much! wow - it really is ultimate! :-) And only <4MB per block in XP/ 65MB in Windows7 (had some trouble trying to count the blocks in your picture, so I used rule of thumb too much apparently) :-) How long time does the whole procedure take? Thank you again for taking the trouble to explain!!! Cheers solbjerg EDIT: FYI, the images which shows 3.94 MB per block and 65.11 MB per block are both for the whole disk for Windows7, so it is the same image zoomed in or out.
  17. Ok enoskype That does make it more manageable :-) In your personal setup - do you then find that the inner tracks fragments only slightly? And do you see an improvement by having empty space adjacent to most used files? Do you see an improvement - by see I mean do you experience a faster operation in your computer? Cheers solbjerg p.s. still 50 MB per square could be a lot of files!! Does Ultimate defrag really list them all? p.p.s. Ultimate defrag may have around 10 times as many blocks, which then in my computer will mean about 5 MB per square - still could be quite a number of files - but perhaps not too many :-)
  18. Hi enoskype I tried to count the squares and came up with the number 1080. My computer has 14.651.272 allocation units on the disk with 4.096 byte per unit which comes to more than 60 billion 6*10^10 byte capacity (60.011.610.112) If the squares truly represents the whole disk it would mean that each square could contain 60011610112/1080 = ~55.566.305 byte Which could be as much as about 16.000 pages of closely written text per square. We would have our work cut out for us to just glance through it I think :-) Granted some may be empty (by me more than 60%), - others only partly filled, but anyway I think it would be too much for me to check it even cursory. :-) Then you could say that only the fragments should be shown,- but then again some of the fragments could contain many, many pages of information and why would I want to know precisely what that information was?? Cheers solbjerg p.s. if my brain functioned at the speed of light (300.000 km/s) I might reconsider, - but alas it only works at a speed of 10 meters per second - if I am lucky :-)
  19. Hi Tryst Ok you started with a disk where 11,33% were free - this would have made the Windows defragmenter say that it could not defragment the disk due to insufficient free space. You then moved to 18% free space - did you throw in a full chkdsk before the defragmentation attempt? You then moved to 26% free space - and apparently that was sufficient by you. Congratulation :-) In my opinion one should never fill a disk more than 75% - I prefer less - the more full it is the easier it defragments they say. You have the opportunity to switch to a SSD computer, that way you don't even have to think about defragging :-) Cheers solbjerg
  20. Smart Defrag v. 2. beta 1.1 The promished update to version 2. beta 1.1 is now available for download. (15-12-2010) The boot defrag option now works, and it is now possible to change the color legend to one's preferences. I have updated this information in Usage of IObit Products too! Cheers solbjerg
  21. Hi Tryst Please read Think about defragmentation Your problem sounds like you do not have sufficient free space left. 17 GB you say -ok, but out of how many? If you have a 300 GB disk it only amounts to less than 6%, whereas at least 15% is needed. If this is the case you should move some of your data i.e. videos to another harddisk to create sufficient space on the one that won't defrag now. Cheers solbjerg p.s. BTW have you chosen the setting to have the program ignore large files
  22. Thank you Laurence! It is also mentioned in Usage of IObit Products :-) Cheers solbjerg
  23. Hi titou Quite simple really !! :-) Cheers solbjerg
  24. Hi tailor Yes we have seen some changes sir! My grandmother had a cousin that used to tell us that his father had lived while Napoleon was emperor (begot him when he was over 80) - he died around 1980 and he saw a lot of changes too. My first hourly wages as 15 year old (1959) was about 20 cent per hour. (45 hour week though :-) ) Around 25% taxes - around 25% housing - 50% for living expences. Today around 50% taxes and around 50% housing - you have to have a partner if you want to eat! That's progress for you!! :-) I wonder though if it is true that integrity was greater then - even if we feel so? By the way - you don't have to call me sir - even if I am 7¾ years older than you. :-) Cheers solbjerg
  25. Hi Pablo Ok - probably a word from Portugal then? But wouldn't "Ameaça" be sufficìent? That would at least make it short! :-) My feelings are that as long as the words convey the meaning of the function it doesn't matter so much if they are a verbatim translation. But all is fine if you have kept your translations inside the allocated space for translations. That is the primary thing apart from the translations themselves. :-) Cheers solbjerg
