You have a strange idea of "basic"....I would hate to think what a "complex" query would entail.
As for your questions....
1. It depends on how VLC updates. Whether it simply rewrites some files and directories, or if it does an uninstall of the old version and then an install of the update.
If the former, then it will not be logged. If the latter then it will.
2. Yes, if you ask it to.

There are many posts in the Forum dealing with payment/licence issues and what to do to resolve them.
You should send a message to Cicely ( the Iobit Team member on the Forum). That normally resolves these issues.
Of course the best thing to do always in situations like this, is to contact your Bank/Credit card company and tell them what is happening.

After 1 year, only the licence(s) expire. the products just revert to the free version(s) without
the Pro features.
You can then decide if you want the pro versions again and if so go to the Iobit store again and look for specials.
Be careful not to select auto-renewal when purchasing products.

You do not say whether it is being cleaned by Junk Files Clean or Privacy Sweep.
So, go to settings for each one and disable the item where your log is.

need to enter it.
