  1. Hi Phil

    Welcome to the forum.

Thank you for such an informative post. I must agree that it would certainly seem that SD B2 did delete ASC. This issue has come up before and it would seem it has not been addressed.

As to support from Iobit, I must sadly say that there has been some issues regarding email/phone support, but Iobit assured thea this would be addressed. It seems it has not been addressed yet.

At the moment it is Chinese New Year so Iobit support on the Forum is not available. I must admit that I personally find this unacceptable, as it is a company marketing a product on an international market, and as such should have 365 support.

Hopefully your post will encourage them to address your issues and improve their support. I do not think ordinary members of the forum are in a position to assist you with your issue as is, as it seems to be an issue that requires software modification. I hope you will continue to use the products and continue to post in the forum.

  2. If what I guess is right, the user a.puerta16 who joined the forum in 2007 was banned just because she said that she used another free driver updating and managing program called DriveTheLife? LOL... I think better program deserves recommendation. We should have free right to say and share what we like, isn't it?

    Hi bqvyrlhv

    Welcome to the Forum.

a.puerta 16 was not banned for mentioning another driver program, but for her comments regarding another user and her confrontational attitude in general.

If you look at the list of sub-forums you will see that we have a forum for Other Software where users can comment on other software programs. We also have a general discussion forum.

a.puerta 16 was given every opportunity to alter her attitude but sadly declined to do so. Banning is used reluctantly and as a very last resort on this Forum.

  3. 2. Boot time defrag

This is a very nice inclusion, Smart Defrag is the only free utility I know of that includes this option. I did note however that there doesn't seem to be a option to only run a boot time defrag at the users request. Putting a option in to only run a boot time defrag when the user schedules it would make a lot of sense.

    3. Disk cleanup prior to defrag

This is a great little addition to have and just makes sense. I would like to see this expanded a bit though to include all but the 3 most recent Windows restore points. We all know how Windows loves to gobble up space with restore points ;).

    Hi ketxxx

    Welcome to the Forum.

Thank you for your indepth feedback and suggestions. I am sure it will be of great interest to both users and Iobit.

With regard to Boot time Defrag.....the user has the option to turn off boot time defrag in the UI. The users can then run Boot time Defrag at a time oh their choosing rather than the provided options. | would agree that it would be nice to have a dynamic user scheduling facility which would allow user to set their own user schedule.

With regard to the suggestion to remove all but the last 3 restore points.....I would prefer that an option be given as to how many restore points a user would like to retain. With a lot of software automatically creating restore points, 3 restore points may only constitute one days data, which would not be much help if a system failure occurred. I personally keep at least 2 weeks restore points and this has save my bacon many times.

  4. New Report Center - Easier and clearer to view report details.

I'll try this version out. I hope the GUI displays will be straight forward as usual. 1.gif

  5. Hi Vika

    Welcome to the Forum.

There are some files such as system files and files which are in use at the time of fragment which cannot be moved as this would cause the system to malfunction.

The MFT (Master File Table) is one of these files. These files can be Defragmented/moved/optimised/prioritised during Bootime Defrag because the defragment is performed before the system files are loaded and the startup programs initiated. That is the purpose of Boot Time Defrag.

Boot Time Defrag is not required very often and I recommend that you google Boot Time defrag and do some research on it. You can also look through the Defrag Forum here and get a lot of information on Defragging and Boot Time Defrag.

  6. Hi MC Fat Tongue

    Welcome to the Forum.

Thank you for the feedback and your effort to be impartial. It is greatly appreciated.

Sadly user a.puerta16 ignored all requests to desist from confrontational and disrespectful content, and has now been Banned.

This Forum will never censor any opinion whether positive or negative as long as it is done in a non-confrontational and or disrespectful manner.

It is just as easy to get a point across and be respectful of other users, which you have done admirably well in your post.

We look forward to hearing from you again in the Forum.

  7. This beta version of Smart Defrag 4 doesn't seem to work correctly for me. I always see the message "Move failed, the parameter is incorrect." for the file C:\$MFT. That error message always appears every time I look at the report after the files have been defragmented. C:\$MFT is the only file that can't be defragmented for some reason.

The MFT ( Master File Table) is a locked system file and cannot be defragged during normal defrag operation. It can only be defragged during a Boot Time Defrag.

    Hi Scannan,

Sorry for my unclear explanation. What I mean is that users can enjoy more features including the new features in the new beta version.

Besides, the final version of ASC Ultimate 8 will be released very soon.Cheers.:-)

    Thank you Cicely.

Unfortunately the issue here is releasing ASCU8 Beta as an upgrade/Update for ASCU7. This should not happen. The OP "mclea," is rightly upset about this.

    Hi mclea,

Sorry for the inconvenience. Please note that ASC Ultimate v8 beta is an advanced version of ASC Ultimate 7 even it is still in beta version. You can also enjoy all features of ASC v8 in ASC Ultimate v8.

Besides, the final version of ASC U 8 will be released soon

I am very sorry to have to say this, but this is totally unacceptable. If Iobit wish to consider the present Beta stage of ASCU 8 to be an advanced version of ASCU7, then it must be released as an upgrade

to ASCU7 period. It cannot be released to the user as an upgrade to ASCU7 and then the user discovers that it is in fact ASCU 8 Beta which has been loaded on to their machine.

Users have to be made aware of Beta products and have the choice of whether they wish to partake in the risk of having a Beta product on their machine.

Iobit is a large company, and as such I am sure they must be aware of the commercial and legal risks involved in ignoring the standards and or obligations which apply to Beta products, and loading them onto users machines without the users full knowledge and prior permission.

I completely fail to see what advantage there is for Iobit to continue to follow this strategy, but I can certainly see the many dis-advantages in doing so.

Once again, I hope that this practice will be curtailed and or revised, and Iobit will implement the established practices and methodologies relating to Beta products.
