Uninstaller Program

Here's a freeware program "My Uninstaller" Nirsoft.net, can also help with programs that may have not included an uninstaller. Will give you good info regarding the program i.e. registry entries, etc., to help you clean up any garbage left behind.

Kristi

This 'forum' concept is totally new to me, but I've just spent the last 2 hours reading your the advice and problems and haven't found the answer to my problem.

When I ran a complete scan the first time on my system the 'print' on Internet Explorer became fuzzy/blurry. I tried running a restore and the clear and crisp print returned. I studied every single item that was being repaired when I ran it again and the same thing happened. So, until now, I've gotten used to the fuzzy print, I'm just not sure I have to. Does anyone have a suggestion how I might regain my 20/20 eyesight?

Thanks,

Kristi

Want to report about false-positive of Advanced WindowsCare.

Program detect 'Spyware.BrowserSpy' here:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Interface/{B2D0778B-AC99_4С5...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFT/WARE/CLASSES/INTERFACE

But these entries belongs to the Microsoft ATL Library:

IAxWinAmbientDispatchEx Interface

ATL Classes

Would be appreciated if it's possible to fix this.

Thank you.

I recently noticed that my system restore window went completely blank. I had exactly the same problem as did this guy: http://ntcompatible.com/thread33879-1.html

Notice I could only reach System Restore by pasting this adress (res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\Restore\rstrui.exe/start.htm) in my browser window. After a few activeX warnings the Sytem Restore came back, but only inside my browser: the window was still blank. Luckily I had a backup lying about (ERUNT is great) so everything is fine now.

But I am wondering about the cause of this annoyance. Is it possible that your anti-spyware function caused this behaviour? Doesn't that block activeX content? Thanks.

AWC 2.51 conflict with FirefoxTCP

I just downloaded them both . I run the AWC and repair the problems . I then run the FirefoxTCP on auto and it boosts just fine , but every single time i run the AWC as a check after the FirefoxTCP , it must be resetting the FirefoxTCP settings because i need to redo the FirefoxTCP boost after every AWC run . Why is it they can't get along ?

callbobby69,

They can get along!!!

Optimization of AWC and FireFox&TCP Optimizer Beta are for different purposes.

-Fully scan and repair with AWC.

-After optimizing with FireFox&TCP Optimizer Beta , run AWC again.

-As solbjerg points out, click Show Details of System Optimization.

-Right click on the optimizations that AWC found, and add them to ignore list.

Next time AWC will not change them.

Questions

Hello,

Is this product compatible with Norton antivirus and Webroot spy sweeper? These are the products that came with our computer last year and it is time for renewal. A friend told me about this site, but not sure what I need. Is this to replace the above mentioned products or is it to work in conjunction with them?

It's taken me a while to even figure out how to post this question, so if this is not the right person, I apologize!

thanks!

DDJohnson,

I do highly recommend that you give AWC a try. It is a good daily tool to optimize and keep your computer running fast and smooth with little effort.

It is NOT an anti virus program, but it does scan for spyware and blocks a lot of bad things from coming in to your computer- a wonderfull program!

There are good free antivirus and spyware programs out there too. Also, if your Norton was a security suite you will need a firewall to replace the one in Norton. If you do remove the Norton, first go to thier website and find the appropriate removal tool. Just uninstalling usually doesn't get it all out and can cause you problems in the registry (have seen it many times with both the N & M products). Download and save the cleanup tool. Run it after you run the uninstaller.

Of the ones I have tried (including N & M) I have had the best results with Free AVG anti-virus, free Zone Alarm Firewall, and free Adaware 2007 spyware remover-(very important-use only one firewall & one antivirus, but don't rely on one program to remove all spyware & adware, each gets different things!). This combination along with AWC has given me the best trouble free computer I ever had! ( I do use AWC Pro, but go ahead & try Personal, you will probably upgrade to Pro-you'll love it.)

samr.

(By the way, I am not employed by Iobit- just a user that is so blown away by the software I have agreed to help with the forum!)

Hi Samr

I agree totally with you, except that I don't know anything about Zone Alarm, but otherwise it is my sentiments too.

I also find, that when IObit put such an excellent tool up for free, I feel that I want to give back something, and I started by translating English to Danish back in Nov.2006 and have joined the forum in May 2007.

Suggestion for additional feature: Include System File Checker

For some reason Microsoft has chosen not to include a "Repair" utility for Windows Vista (or any of the other vesions for that matter) similar to the repair function of (e.g.) Microsoft Office.

I guess this will be difficult for IObit to replicate (maybe MS found it too difficult.....) but I'm sure there are some things that you could do such as restoring some of the defaults used by MS during the installation. :? For example, my printer now only prints after I re-boot and I'm sure it was my fault in playing around with some of the settings trying to make Vista faster (before I found this wonderful program). :-D

Before running the option to "restore defaults" perhaps you could display a list of the things you are able to reset and people could tick (or untick) those they want resetting.

Another option you might consider is to offer the choice of running the System File Checker (sfc /scannow.....) to replace any system files missing or damaged. Of course this might be tricky for people who do not have their installation disk but it could be a useful option.

I find systen analyze a very useful tool too. It is very time consuming to check the settings manually.

But you are right, it would be nice to have some more options built into it.

As for sfc /scannow I do not find it hard to write that myself in the run-box, but a reference to it and a small explanation might be a good idea, as many people doesn't know about it.

Best regards and greetings from solbjerg

In my opinion these are bugs:

In my startup AdvanceWindows care does not recognize some startup items (this is OK) and then I add those items to ignore list. But next time program does scan, it found one item (item that I added to ignore list). Then I click Show details under Startup Manager, add that item again in ignore list, press OK and now program shows that all my startup items are found. Then I do scan again, and again 1 item s found.

I done one translation for AdvancedWindows Care and I noticed that I could not find to translate "item(s) found" under Startup Manage when scan is finished.

Also I noticed that balloon message "Advanced WindowsCare is still running" is sometimes in English, though I choose other language.

Cheers
