  1. Hello Leej,

Sorry about the problem ASC caused to you. I'm also very glad to hear that Scannan's solution is helpful. However, we need your help to check the cause of the problem. Since we didn't reproduce the problem, it would be grateful if you can help us look into the issue by providing us with more information below:

1.Please send us the screenshot of the error message you got so that we can see it clearly.

2.Please follow the steps below to provide us with the requested file for our further investigation.

    1) Download the tool from http://testdemo.iobit.com/InfoHelper.exe

    2) Double click to run this tool on the PC with problem and click 'Save report'.

    3) After it finishes, you will get a popup window to tell you where the report file IObit_Debug_Info.zip is saved. Click 'OK' button to open that saved folder.

    4) Send the zipped file to us so that we can get the detailed information to look into.

    Waiting for your reply.

This has been an issue with the Deep Clean function since it was introduced many years ago.

There are entire discussions in the Forum regarding the issue.

For some reason it is simply too agressive on some pc's and some pc's configurations.

Since this issue first came up those many years ago, Iobit has received lot's of feedback and assistance from Users.

The issue stil remains, though it does not occur as often as it used to, which either means that Iobits improved programming has improved the situation

and/or windows registry or OS is less affected or most likely Users have disabled it as we advise always in the Forum.

As has been suggested many times before, Iobit should consider removing the Deep Clean function, as Users have always been advised

to disable it anyway, and I believe that most Users have done so.

  2. I downloaded Smart Defrag 6.3.0.228 from Major Geek about an hour ago. However, the file that was downloaded was not an executable:

smart-defragsetup shown in Windows Explorer as "file" 15,636kb

7-Zip finds lots of files and folders, but I don't seem to be able to find an executable.

Please tell me where I have gone wrong

No idea what you did but I strongly recommend deleting whatever you downloaded and run a malware/antivirus scan.

This is the Majorgeeks link for smart defrag. In download locations choose Download@Majorgeeks and you will get the smartdefrag-setup exe file.

  3. The most likely function that may cause this isue is either Privacy Sweep or Registry defrag if you have the Deep Clean option selected in settings. I strongly

recommend not to enable Deep Clean in Registry Clean settings.

So you should unselect all the options in Clean & Optimise and only run Privacy Sweep and Registry Clean to see if one of those are causing the issue.

If they are not then try each of the other functions one at a time to see if one of them is causing.

If you are succesful in identifying the culprit come back to us and we will assist you with solution.

  4. It was probably the type of reformat that caused the issue. This seems to be more common with external drives.

Windows has issues with external drive labels. Also with handling bad sector errors on external drives.

I have seen occasions where it took almost aday to reformat a 500 GB external drive when the option to repair bad sectors was selected.

Also the MFT has to be reconstructed so that may have contributed to the long defrag.

I would suggest that you try windows own defrag and optimise on the suspect drive to see if the same issue occurs.

  5. I have moved your Topic to "Other Software Programs" section as this is not an Iobit issue, but a Logitech one.

It sounds to me like a driver issue with logitech.

Please explain how the issue started. I am assuming you got a new mouse and the issue started when you installed it.

Why do you think that ASC should be able to fix this issue.

Did you go to the Logitech forum to see if there is a solution.

  6. I have never seen a situation where driver updates would cause this issue.

I can only think that maybe the BIOS was also updated which could cause boot issues if the new BIOS is unsuitable.

If this is the case then in may be worth firstly checking the BIOS settings or reverting to the previous working BIOS.

  7.

Regarding your reply to my first question, yes, I know about the different kinds of defrag. No, the difference in time is not because I'm using different types of defrag.

Regarding your reply to my last question, no, it's not a large file that's causing this issue.

As you disagree with the possible reasons for the issue, It would appear that you already know the reasons for the issues,

Please share this info with us.
